You guys missed a huge one

this technique works so well you can't even imagine. wreckers are used to getting their way and their egos can't withstand any type correction - even if they haven't broken any rules yet, the meltdown that follows a polite request like this will see them out. even just ignoring their acting out can cause them to self-remove. and it's fail-safe because actually well-meaning people won't be affected. be warned: they will attempt to beat you over the head with social justice language jargon. don't fall for it, and call it what it is - the language of care used as a weapon. it contains zero care. if their behavior is indistinguishable from COINTELPRO, you have an obligation to the group/space/whatever to treat them as a hostile agent not everyone who says they want to build the house can be trusted with a hammer

What we need is a left that is patient, kind, and articulate in describing its position. We need radicals who start by finding points of agreement, then persuade people to radical positions through rationality and evidence rather than moral indignation and bullying.

i would shut down the library once a week to allow lesbians to gather and share art and perform. my library also has narcan, access to internet, a food pantry, free snacks, community resources, etc. that’s what these people should be doing rather than an “anti-profit business”

There is a concept in organizing called the "tyranny of the annoying". You need to set-up ground rules and enforce them viciously. If you let anti-social people come in and soapbox, they will destroy the thing you are trying to build.

I know this whole article is objectively hilarious, but there’s something genuinely sad about how many queer-owned businesses and community spaces have been driven to close by their own communities. There’s so much self-righteousness in these spaces, and so little room for people to make mistakes, learn, and do better. I would much rather support a community-owned business that is genuinely trying to navigate what ethics look like in an imperfect system than watch them disappear and be replaced by another soulless private equity smash burger spot.
