Point number 1 is why my sympathy is dwindling for them . They will spit in the face of the diaspora but tell the 23% they are just as Irish as they are ! At this point good luck to them honestly .
The Ireland that Republicans dream of, and were willing to murder for, no longer exists and is never coming back.
The Republic of Ireland:
- has a population of which 23% are not born in Ireland (their offspring would push this number much higher)
- is not a sovereign state and must defer to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels on issues of immigration, tax, farming, fishing, trade and climate change. All of these EU policies make life more expensive for the average Irish citizen
- has no common culture and has abandoned its cultural roots in the Catholic Church.
- only 1.5% of the population speak the Irish language on a daily basis
- cannot house its own people, with 17,000 Irish citizens currently homeless and an estimated 65k Irish citizens being driven abroad every year by high cost of living
Republican dreams of an independent, predominantly Gaelic, united ireland are now nothing but pure fantasy due the the social and demographic changes cheered on by the politicians currently lining the Garvaghy Road.
