There is a very important side story to this Slotkin thing that no one is talking about. The Trump Administration needs to come out and reassure patriots who want to help their country that if they do so, and these evil Democrats come after them on spurious grounds, that the Trump Administration WILL HAVE THEIR BACKS, both in courts of law and the court of public opinion. The media is in bed with the Democrats on this--the media will smear anyone the Democrats point them at. If the Trump Administration does not make this public pronouncement, and then BACK IT UP, they will find ordinary Americans unwilling to help them.
