⚖️ Evercrest Technologies, the company behind @KelpDAO, has filed a lawsuit against @LayerZero_Core and co-founder @PrimordialAA over the April 18 exploit of 116,500 $rsETH worth approximately $292M. The filing alleges #LayerZero reviewed and endorsed the 1-of-1 DVN configuration used by the exploited @unichain bridge, while failing to disclose related security risks, including warnings it had previously issued to another developer, @USDT0_to. Brian Pellegrino called the claim "meritless."

🏦 The @federalreserve has proposed rules on reserves and capital for #stablecoin issuers it oversees, opening two proposals for public comment under the GENIUS Act. ◽️The first would require Board-supervised issuers to hold reserves in permissible assets such as short-term Treasury bills, while establishing standardized capital requirements to address credit and operational risks. ◽️The second would create an application process for Board-supervised banks seeking to issue stablecoins, requiring a business plan and financial information, with procedures for appeals and hearings. The comment period closes 60 days after Federal Register publication. The move adds the authority's piece to a multi-agency #GENIUSAct rollout, alongside the OCC's November push and the Treasury's proposed restrictions on noncompliant stablecoins.

🔐 @bitget CEO @GracyBitget says the exchange's $351.6M hack occurred via spoofed transfers, not private key compromise. Unauthorized transfers from parts of #Bitget's hot and warm wallet infrastructure were detected on September 24. The company's User Protection Fund, holding more than $464M, fully covers the loss. Deposits and trading remain open; withdrawals are temporarily suspended. "The attacker compromised a critical backend system within our wallet infrastructure, used it to spoof transaction data, and triggered our authorization process to move funds out," Gracy Chen wrote. "Private key compromise has been ruled out." "Multiple technical teams are working in parallel on system remediation and security hardening," she added. Preliminary evidence points to North Korean involvement, with investigators identifying IP addresses linked to VPN services previously used by a known North Korean hacking group.

🛡️Cryptography research firm @allocinitxyz has introduced Shielded Bitcoin, a protocol for @Zcash-style private transfers on #Bitcoin's mainnet without a soft fork. The proposal would conceal transaction amounts, senders, recipients and links to previously spent funds using encrypted notes and #ZK-proofs, treating Bitcoin as "a neutral publication and ordering layer" rather than an enforcer of the #privacy rules. Critics question its initial anonymity set and #quantum resistance, while Zerocash co-author and @StarkWareLtd CEO @EliBenSasson expressed support, noting that bringing privacy to Bitcoin was the original intent of the #Zerocash paper.

⚖️ New York sued @Polymarket, calling the prediction market an illegal gambling operation. Attorney General @NewYorkStateAG and Governor @GovKathyHochul l filed a lawsuit against the #crypto-based prediction market, accusing the platform of running an unlicensed gambling operation in the state. Hours later, #Polymarket pushed back, arguing it operates as a federally regulated exchange offering "event contracts," a type of derivative that falls under the @CFTC's authority, not state gaming laws. The #CFTC itself agrees, and has already sued nine states in 2026 asserting exclusive nationwide authority over the industry.
