Microsoft pulled the plug on Claude for its internal team. Starbucks’ AI can’t count cups correctly. Uber burned 3.4 billion dollars on AI in just 4 months and saw zero return. Amazon axed its AI leaderboard as costs soared with no clear payoff. AI is the future, allegedly.

the first time in the history of this website that someone has used the term "ontological" correctly and some people are still replying to him as though he was using it (in accordance with xitter vernacular) to mean "very" lmao

I am not joking when I say this. Traveling is over. Google Street View is now very, very good. You just don’t know yet because all the street views you’ve seen are from 2-3 generations ago. Google Street View has solved infinite personalized travel.
I am not joking when I say this. Spotify, Apple Music, and streaming in general is over. AI music is now very, very good. You just don't know yet because all AI music circulating today is from ~2-3 generations ago. Suno v6 pro et al has solved infinite personalized music.

My friends and I threw a mad men season 5 premiere party in our dorm with candy cigarettes and a bartender serving mixed drinks in plastic martini glasses. Guests kwere required to dress well. Biggest freshman party of the year

Absolutely. Also, had to be there. I watched in real time starting in my 20s and it had such an impact on me. And on every rewatch it reveals more meaning for the stage of life I’m in.

This is the correct take. Also
MAD MEN is the #1 show of the century, probably all-time. Unparalleled depth, performances, themes, emotions; the best drama that is also somehow the best comedy. I know this; you know this; your mom knows this. We don't have to be babies who pretend otherwise.

No, it's different in this case, because LLM are designed to create an illusion that they do think and talk like human beings.
The whole "don't anthropomorphize AI" thing is very Woke 1.0. People trying to police language that is perfectly natural in some cases and ending up in a web of contradictions.

It’s very funny how mad AI crowd got at a simple stylistic guide suggesting using technical language to describe technical concepts. It really bothers AI cultists when people rationally refuse to revere AI models as emerging gods, and instead view them as software products.
Artificial intelligence systems do not think, feel, want or understand. Avoid language that gives them human characteristics. This is called anthropomorphizing, when we ascribe human traits, emotions or behaviors to non-human things, such as animals or inanimate objects. Instead, explain what a system does, how well it performs, who built it and who could be affected by it. apnews.com/article/openai-sa…

Per a note to Boston Globe staff today, the lesbian bar story generated 1,000 subscriptions to the paper yesterday. The Globe’s managing editor said it was “by far our best performing story of the year,” and appears to be “on pace to shatter all sorts of Globe records.”
A lesbian bar in Greenfield eased its stringent mask mandate, a decision that has splintered the queer community in the city and beyond. trib.al/FyZjBWs
