Truth and Commonsensesayer calling Balls and Strikes

Not mentioned recently by the media or anyone else, is that the NDP’s letter (which Jas posted) said “no to no fault” and then the NDP Government proceeded to do the opposite - by implementing no fault and limiting the legal rights of accident victims.

David Eby and Bowinn Ma keep saying higher taxes are needed to protect healthcare. But after years of rising spending, B.C. is projecting a $13.8B deficit. In 2024/25, 96,292 British Columbians were waiting for scheduled surgery, and 10% of completed procedures took more than 30 weeks. Here on the North Shore, Lions Gate went from 254 beds in 2021 to 329 in 2025. a net increase of only 75 beds in the province’s published totals. More taxes. More spending. Bigger deficits. Patients still waiting. That’s the problem. British Columbians don’t need another tax hike. They need better delivery, more frontline capacity, shorter wait times and accountability for every dollar already being spent. #bcpoli
Everyone in B.C. deserves healthcare they can count on. To help pay for it, the BC NDP's plan includes asking the top 4% of earners to contribute a little more. But even after these changes, B.C. will stay one of the lowest-tax provinces in Canada. 👇

toronto.citynews.ca/2026/10/… Immediately following the disastrous debates and Chris Alexander’s exit, Bradford has cut the lead over Chow to 4 points. It’s now becoming too close to call.

NEW - The BC Conservatives announcing, if elected, they will scrap the ICBC monopoly on car insurance in the province. The Conservatives will get rid of no-fault and open up competition. #bcpoli

If it was tax and spend wisely, at this point BC would be the safest province with the best healthcare and education system in the world. Rather than measurable improvement in these things - we’re spending more and getting less. The BCNDP did that.

Advanced directives will be decriminalised but provinces will decide if they want to implement it. At least that's the official line. It's not clear how it is enforceable.

BC NDP is now campainging against themselves and what even they admit is the "unacceptable" siutation they have created in healthcare. Time for this NDP government to go.
Here’s David Eby TODAY: "Right now in the province, people can wait 10 weeks for surgeries, but they can also wait 50 weeks or more for some surgeries, and that is totally unacceptable.” B.C. NDP campaign event, Oct. 6, 2026. Who’s been running the province the last FOUR YEARS?

First off, that isn't true. The policy was shared broadly. Secondly, the BCNDP should be careful bringing up "Leaked letter" given the secretive nature of indigenous land grants.

If it were that easy, why hasn’t your government already done it? It’s not like the health care crisis just started with the snap election.

Nothing more than theatre.
Industry Minister Melanie Joly has written to the President of Stelco, warning them that the up to 500 layoffs in Hamilton constitutes a breach of their 2024 agreement with the federal government to maintain unionized employment until 2029. She is giving the company five days to present a plan or potentially face “an application to the superior court for orders that may include directing compliance, divestiture, or monetary penalties” #cdnpoli

This clip was the highlight of the latest Toronto debate on City for me, but you could take just about any segment and repeat the same happenings more or less: Oliva Chow, reading from her notes, makes a wild and baseless accusation. Accuses Bradford of privatizing water and making the pipes unsafe "like Calgary" she says. Brad Bradford simply corrects her. "Calgary's recommendation is exactly what I am proposing." Then Olivia, (on a stool btw to I guess look more legitimate?) stares off at her staffers in the back with what can only be a "wtf, why didn't you read that report?" kind of glance. I feel bad for her staffers today.

The BC govt. keeps a secret Surgical Patient Registry on 1000s of procedures (a small sample from 9 years ago is shown here). The NDP won’t disclose the latest data to the people of BC. Guess why? Because it’s now much worse. Almost 5000 a year in BC die waiting.

If your insurance rates didn’t halve when no fault why in the world would you think they’d double if it were repealed? We lost a lot of rights for very little savings, I’d like those rights back. #NoFaultIsNoFair

BREAKING: RCMP confirm they “were aware” of the Tumbler Ridge shooter before the massacre. Asked whether police had previously seized weapons, RCMP said they couldn’t discuss the weapons, citing two court proceedings and a publication ban.

I know both Olivia Chow and Brad Bradford. It looked strange on my TV box that Chow was taller on TV than Bradford. Wonder why? She was standing on a stool. I don't think that should be allowed. Should debates ensure podiums work for all, but this is wrong.
