Ok, but if a Ukrainian civilian rammed into a Russian checkpoint, we would not be calling it or lumping it together with a terrorist attack, and if one of the soldiers was the son of a senior Russian diplomat, the coverage would have a very smug just-desserts tone.
A lot of people have told me this. In fact, under international law, a civilian does not possess combatant privilege. They can’t just drive up to a checkpoint and attack soldiers. If they do, they enjoy no immunity from criminal prosecution.
And yes, international law also says that the West Bank is occupied Palestinian territory.
