She also alleged that the hospital did not provide an initial cost estimate and kept her in the dark regarding expenses as they mounted.​"Each day of delay prevents me from performing his last rites according to our faith and from arranging his return home to #Bangladesh," she said, demanding the unconditional release of the body along with the death certificate, discharge summary, and necessary documents required for embalming and international repatriation. ​The widow pointed out that Section 11 of the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (#KPME) Act and the Patients’ Charter strictly bar hospitals from detaining bodies over unsettled dues, requiring medical establishments to pursue billing disputes through separate legal channels. Bipin Thomas, Sales Manager for International Patients at the facility, told a news channel that the patient had arrived in a life-threatening condition requiring intensive intervention. ​"We had given a clear estimate of the expenses, and they had paid an advance of about ₹7 lakh," Thomas said. "After the patient passed away, his wife and family members specifically requested the hospital to keep the body until they could arrange the remaining balance of roughly ₹30 lakh." ​According to Bipin Thomas, the family changed its stance in recent days. "Over the past two days, they flipped the story, alleging we are not releasing the body. That is simply not true. "As a result of our attractive policy, we are ready to allocate land for just one rupee; we offer 24-hour electricity, seamless connectivity and transport routes, skilled youth power and an ample land bank." Lokayukta Raids 33 Locations Across Karnataka in DA Crackdown;Over ₹25 Crore in Disproportionate Assets Uncovered Linked to 8 Officials ​Bengaluru In a major statewide crackdown against corruption, the Karnataka #Lokayukta police on Tuesday conducted simultaneous search operations across more than 33 locations linked to eight government officers facing disproportionate assets (DA) cases. The raids, spanning Bengaluru,Bengaluru South,Mandya,Kalaburagi,Kodagu, Dharwad,Chikkaballapura and Bidar, led to the detection of total assets valued at approximately ₹29.61 crore. ​According to an official release by the Karnataka #Lokayukta, the searches covered the residential premises, offices and residences of relatives of the accused officials.The detected wealth comprises over ₹17.98 crore in immovable properties and ₹11.63 crore in movable assets. 1.​Sridevi, District Registrar, Basavanagudi (#BengaluruSouth): Holding the highest valuation among the raided officers, Sridevi was found in possession of ₹5.86 crore worth of immovable assets, including two sites, two houses, agricultural land valued at ₹2.5 crore, and a garment factory valued at ₹2.3 crore. Movable assets worth ₹94.61 lakh were also recovered, including ₹30.87 lakh in cash, gold and silver ornaments valued at ₹35.58 lakh, and vehicles worth ₹23.15 lakh, taking her total disproportionate assets valuation to ₹6.80 crore. 2.​H.M. Ranganath (Retired Assistant Engineer, GBA Shivajinagar, #Bengaluru City): Searches conducted across four locations linked to Ranganath,who retired on August 31, 2026,unearthed assets totaling ₹5.69 crore. His holdings included two sites, four houses, and 9 acres 35 guntas of agricultural land valued at ₹1.74 crore. His movable properties stood at ₹3.95 crore, featuring ₹1.03 crore in cash, ₹1.42 crore in bank fixed deposits, and ₹40 lakh worth of gold and silver. The total DA value stands at ₹3.84 crore. 3.​Shivaraju M. (Hostel Superintendent, BCM Dept, Maddur, #Mandya): Raids across two locations revealed total assets of ₹3.82 crore, including five sites, five houses (comprising two commercial complexes and a farmhouse), and 6 acres of agricultural land valued at ₹2.16 crore. Movables worth ₹1.66 crore were also found, bringing his estimated DA valuation to ₹2.71 crore. 4.​Manik Rao (Retired Agriculture Officer,#Bidar): Searches across three places revealed six sites, three houses, and 14 acres 20 guntas of agricultural land valued at ₹1.87 crore. With ₹1.03 crore in movable properties, including ₹61.61 lakh in gold and silver, his disproportionate assets were assessed at ₹2.51 crore. 5.​Kiran Baindur (AEE, HESCOM, #Dharwad): Lokayukta teams searched six locations, uncovering a house, a commercial shop, and 2 acres of farmland valued at ₹1.87 crore, along with ₹93.42 lakh in movable assets (including ₹73.71 lakh in gold and silver jewelry). Total DA value is pegged at ₹1.79 crore. 6.​Darshan Gowda G. (FDA, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, #Chikkaballapura): Raids at eight premises unearthed three sites and 16 houses valued at ₹2.10 crore, alongside movable assets worth ₹48.07 lakh, totaling a DA value of ₹1.86 crore. 7.​Rajeshwari Babalad (AEE, GESCOM MRT LDC Division,#Kalaburagi): Assets worth ₹2.19 crore were detected across three searched locations, comprising five sites and two houses valued at ₹1.36 crore, along with movable properties worth ₹82.75 lakh. The DA valuation stands at ₹1.91 crore. 8.H.R. Ramesh (Municipal Commissioner,#Kodagu): Searches across three premises revealed a house and 3 acres of agricultural land valued at ₹1 crore, alongside ₹78.80 lakh in movables (including ₹46.48 lakh in gold and silver ornaments), with disproportionate assets calculated at ₹1.78 crore. ​Lokayukta officials stated that verification of documents, bank accounts and property deeds seized during the operations is ongoing across the respective police stations. @KarnatakaCops
