Good Morning, Please join me for a daily scripture break. Ephesians 5:6: "Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.” A well written thought is like a precise surgical instrument; it poignantly extracts the meaning of an idea or sentiment from the heart and imprints all that it embodies in the mind and conscience of the human sojourner.  Take heed to this verse because our world is chock full of deceivers.  They spew “empty words” of treachery, deceit and mischievous contempt: all calculated to misdirect its receiver.  “Empty words" are not without purpose but never filled with joy, hope, and love.  I would characterize “empty words” as words stacked like a house of cards with no foundation in truth, knowledge, understanding or wisdom.  II Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  This is a great example of what “empty words” are not. So, how do we identify and circumnavigate these potholes of enmity?  Hebrews 4:12 guides us to this unescapable conclusion that  “...the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Empty words are dull, lifeless, and result in oppressive burdens of the heart. Let’s examine “empty words” a little closer.  Here are some characteristics of "empty words.” 1. Their purpose is to deceive. 2. They lack truth, understanding, wisdom and knowledge of good. 3. They portray a false narrative often through the use of flowery language thereby confusing the recipient of the underlying deception. 4, They engender mistrust, disloyalty, skepticism, immorality, and a heaping dose of obfuscation. 5. They never lead you to Jesus. 6. They are uttered by those who oppose the Lord. 7. They are often utilized to manipulate the receiver’s faithfulness to God against them for the benefit of the offender. The Bible frequently presents a good verses evil theme contained in many of its verses.  This scripture premise identifies the evil succinctly and the consequences awaiting the offenders. Please a take moment and review these foundational scriptures about the dangers of “empty words." Colossians 2:8 - "See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” I Timothy 4:1 - "Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons,…” James 1:16 - "Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.” James 4:4 - "You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” Matthew 12:34-37 - "You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Be ever vigilant to keep a watch over the words you use and be an astute decipher of the “empty words” of the world. The Diana Fritillary females have been awaken from their mid summer reproductive diapauce thanks to the cooler mornings. Soon she will lay eggs in the leaf litter where they will hatch and bury themselves deep to wait out the winter. *sticker shock* We trapped a feral female cat that had been coming around for a few weeks and took her to the vet to be spayed and treated for worms, fleas, rabies shot etc. Walked away having paid less than $1000 but not much less. 🙀🙀🙀🙀

Me &AP just left an apartment for a kid refusing to go to school. The mom called & comes to the door wearing a T-Shirt that says "Weird moms rule". The woman told AP she couldn't control her son & even called him "A 13 yr old devil spawn". The boy cussed AP & told him he would not go to school. So, mom REQUESTED he be taken to juvenile. So as soon as AP puts the cuffs on her son the mom starts hyperventilating & starts screaming "Take them off". Then, she lunges towards AP & she herself had to be restrained & also taken into custody. This is a classic example of why domestics are so dangerous for officers. You NEVER know what to expect & have to be ready for anything. Thankfully, today we were a 2 man unit. Having 2 officers on domestics is always preferred but not always possible due to call volume.👮‍♂️ Anyone wanna be a cop? We're hiring!

The Cows — It was right around this time 12 years ago that I was walking across a pasture in Geraldine, with a notepad and pen, making a list of every cow in my Dad’s herd. That morning, I had been driving to my law office in Birmingham when my Mother had called to say that my Dad had been shot; and that I had to get there as quickly as I could. I’ve often said those cows saved me. Instead of worrying about all the things I could not control, including my own emotions, my focus was on my Dad’s lifelong pride and joy: his herd of cattle. Living, breathing, sentient beings who were now in my care, to make the best or the worst of it. My advocacy to save rural land and to hold on to farms is connected to that day as well; knowing that individually, or collectively, we may all need a place to heal one day from this chaotic world. This evening, as the sun goes down, I’ll walk back out to the pasture and look at the cows. And I’ll think of my Dad — and how, together, we have made the best of it.

🚨WOW!!! A foster mom caring for THREE special-needs kids couldn't afford the parts to fix her van's broken AC. So a total stranger bought the parts himself, fixed it for free, and had it running before she got there. When she reached in and felt cold air for the first time… she broke down crying. ❤️ The strangers name is Michael Kuba. And that story? It's just one of thousands. About 11 years ago, Michael's own van AC died and the car shop quoted him almost $4,000. He had 3 little kids crying in the back seat in the Arizona heat… and no way to pay it. So he did the only thing he could do. He bought some tools. Watched YouTube. And through pure trial and error, he taught himself to fix it. Then he had a thought: how many other families are stuck in this exact spot? That was the birth of The Junkie Garage, a nonprofit in Glendale, Arizona. The rules are almost unbelievable. No income checks. No paperwork. No questions about your money or your past. You bring the parts. Y ou donate whatever you can afford for the labor. That's it. "I don't ask you for your income. I don't ask you who you are, where you came from, or anything like that. I just wanna help people get their cars working right." An AC job that runs $2,000 to $4,000 at a normal shop? His average customer pays less than $300, donations included. ...but Michael doesn't do it alone. His son Matthew has been right there beside him, wrench in hand, since he was EIGHT years old. He's a teenager now, and he's still there every week, fixing cars for strangers in his community. "It's an amazing bonding experience, and it gives me an opportunity most kids don't get." A dad teaching his boy how to fix an alternator… and how to be a man. Michael puts it like this: "You haven't lived until you've done something for someone that can never repay you." He's got dreams of a bigger shop, more volunteers, more cars, more families kept on the road to work and school and church. "If you have the ability to help people, just do it."
