I always see folks neatly setting up their home network setups. I start off with the best intentions, all amped up, but once I get everything running I never revisit it to tidy it up 😀
The problem is in part @Ubiquiti’s fault. Once it’s setup it just kind of always work so I forget about it 🤷🏻♂️

Some thoughts on and pics from today’s #aad2026 expo.
Firstly, it’s notably smaller than previous years. The 4 of the 6 main halls were pretty full, but there was almost no aviation presence, local or int.
Outside of a few key SA companies mostly showcasing armored vehicles, probably 40% of hall space was taken up by mostly Chinese, Indian and some Russian (🤮) companies. The much vaunted Denel showase was very meh.
Flying was very sparse during the day. Much much less than previous years. The Rooivalk solo was somehow… very low intensity. Less energy than usual 🤷🏻♂️ Maybe preserving the airframes, or new pilots. I don’t know. The Rooivalk can do better :-) And the lady commentating kind of ruined the displays. Kept on rehashing the same hand wavy statements. Somehow actually worse than Brian Emmenis.
The flying highlight of the day was the Hawk trio and solo. And the mini war was really cool! Best mini war show the SANDF has staged in many many years. Well done!
But outside of that, the whole thing just felt watered down. Just not close to previous years. Maybe missed some minor details, but it was mostly the same stuff uas years before, just less of it.
And a shoutout to the SANDF Support corps! They were by far the most engaging stand, actively engaging people, explaining everything from recovery vehicles, field kitchens, to firefighting tools. Well done!

Agree with this. I've seen this play out so many times over the years.
Candidates that chronically job/team hop every 1 year or so, almost never does so because of "learning". They jump ship before their baggage starts catching up and they can no longer hide lack of skills or delivery.
At Datadog, the founders were almost religious in this belief. To the point of vetoing offers on this basis, even when we’d scaled well past 1000 employees
The remarkable thing was how much this was fought at every layer below the founders. Everyone wanted an exception.
The founders correctly pointed out that short tenures were correlated with being better at interviewing than at the job itself, and therefore there’d always be enormous pressure to relax the rules for seemingly exceptional candidates that were actually just exceptional interviewers.

Slop grenade is my new favourite AI term.
Lazy work used to mean too little output.
Now, with AI, it often means too much and more work for everyone else.
@tobi call it "slop grenades."
A "Slop Grenade" is when you let AI produce the work and pass it on without adding any value (including checking it).
Someone else has to wade through it, catch the mistakes, and clean up the mess.
You save time and look productive but someone else pays for it.
