The crypto x ai bears are missing the whole point. The bull case for x402: - digital goods (i.e., data) and services (i.e., SaaS) are often gated behind paywalls or at least a sign up - this adds friction to an agent using these as it goes after a goal - x402 makes everything permissionless and agent-discoverable. agents only need to buy what they’re using. - as agents start to easily discover x402 services, SaaS providers will be incentivized to add their services behind payment gateways to tap into agent distribution - this becomes a massive flywheel — a true permissionless network of everything in the digital world (and eventually will tap into meat space with robotics and meat proxies) - if we do this right it can create an autopilot agent economy that gives us more abundance than we could even imagine Permissionless commercialization + micropayments need crypto.

The internet is so underrated. Theres no chance we would have ended up with AI without the open web.

For the past two weeks, I've been working on a new visual identity for x402, which is an open standard for internet-native payments. I aimed to convey what x402 stands for: an HTTP status code that's finally been given a purpose: A way for AI agents (and anyone else) to pay natively over HTTP without filling forms or making accounts. Essentially, x402 is connecting two worlds that were separated until now. Relied heavily on animations to make the concepts easier to understand. All done thanks to @Figma motion + agent!
