awal is a wallet usable via cli or mcp, built on @CoinbaseDev 's embedded wallet stack + smart contract wallet. Its hosted in an isolated environment so the keys and session tokens are never exposed directly to the agent, and leverages a paymaster and x402, meaning all transactions are gasless.
It also comes with a companion widget where a human can manage balances and fund the wallet through their @coinbase account or via debit card.

So what is awal?
awal is a wallet that's accessible by an agent, controllable by a human. An agent can take a curated set of actions, and the human can set spend limits for those actions.
The wallet is authenticated via email, meaning if you (or your agent) have an email, it has a wallet.

6 months ago I wrote an example of an agent dynamically discovering and paying for a tool via x402.
