She was a Cannibal Killer juror who craved attention and found it in a talk show camera 35 years later. Here’s how Sunny Hostin got her tail caught in the lyin’ cage. On The View she told the audience that like the Lindsay Clancy holdout, she also was a lone holdout in a 35-year-old murder trial. She was the juror who saved Daniel Rakowitz — the Butcher of Tompkins Square Park from a guilty verdict. Joy Behar cut in with: “The guy who ate the victims?” Hostin said yes. Alyssa Farah Griffin was the one who then gasped and asked, “And you got this guy off?!” Sunny added, I “picked them off one by one”—11 guilty votes, one by one. She said a juror threw a chair at her. She tied every piece of the drama to the Lindsay Clancy trial. The receipt trail tells it differently. Jurors speaking to the Post, Newsday, the Daily News, and the AP identified the holdout juror as ‘an unemployed man who liked the $15 a day and the free meals.’ A law enforcement source from the case told the Post this week that the Cannibal holdout was a man. Rakowitz is still in a mental hospital, not a prison. An ABC television panel just used both of them to narrate a Lindsay Clancy clicks for cash monologue. If the receipts are right, Sunny owes the audience a retraction. You think $4.45 a gallon is expensive? Tell that to someone in Europe. My cousin in Italy pays almost $3.50 for ONE liter. ONE liter. That works out to like $12-$13 a gallon. In some parts of Europe that's just a normal Tuesday. And they don't have a choice. They have to pay it. No driving a big F-150 50 miles to work. They take small cars, trains, bikes, because they have to. In America we have had cheap gas for so long we forgot how lucky we are. We complain about $4.45 while driving trucks that get 15 miles per gallon. Look, I get it. When you have to fill up your tank to get to work and take your kids to school, $4.45 feels expensive. It adds up. I'm not saying it doesn't hurt. But we need some perspective. The rest of the world has been living with $8, $9, $10 gas for years. We've been spoiled. For decades.

San Francisco has found a new use for old newspaper boxes. Not for news. For drug supplies. Tinfoil. Pipes. Narcan. All laid out, free for the taking, right on the sidewalk like it's a community library. They call it "harm reduction." And guess who is paying for it? You and me. Our tax dollars. Let me be clear, I have compassion for people struggling with addiction. I've seen what it does to families, to people, to entire neighborhoods. Nobody wants to see someone die on the street. Narcan saves lives, I get that part. But when did our compassion turn into a system that just keeps people stuck in addiction? Handing out free pipes and tinfoil doesn't get someone sober. It doesn't get them off the street. It doesn't get them into treatment, into a job, back with their family. It just makes it easier to stay exactly where they are. We are being told that if we give them clean supplies, things will get better. But look around San Francisco. Has it gotten better? The streets are telling a different story. The tents are still there. The open drug use is still there. The people are still suffering. This isn't help. This is management of misery. And we're funding it. Your tax dollars should go toward treatment centers, mental health services, job training, housing that actually requires recovery. Things that give people a way OUT, not a way to stay in. We cannot keep calling it kindness when we're fueling the very cycle that's destroying lives. That's not compassion. That's abandonment with a nicer name.
