Nobody stopped you from investing in the stock market. If you never did that at any point in your life, that’s on you. You’re a grown adult. Take some responsibility. You have golf clubs as your profile pic and “real estate” in your handle. Hard for me to believe that you’re impoverished. If you admit that it’s a “shit system” then you should want nothing more than to fix it for the sake of your descendants. But instead it sounds like you want to get whatever you can out of it and leave your grandchildren holding the bag. That’s actually a despicable, selfish mentality, and it’s about time we start calling it what it is. I’m floating some ideas to fix the problem but you’re making it clear, as so many of your peers have made it clear, that you do not want it to be fixed if the solution will inconvenience you in any way at all. Meanwhile, your generation spent decades voting exclusively for politicians who would prop up the very “shit system” that you’re now complaining about. Again, where does personal responsibility factor in here? If you want young people to stop bitching and take ownership of their own lives and choices, when will you do the same?

Fuck you. They made us pay into that shit system for this guarantee of retirement pay. I would have rather invested the money in the stock market and I’d be much better off. So you can just forget that idea!

I agree, but Matt, it's super simple to shut down the debate over this. The population decline is happening with no end in sight. Keeping it is literally impossible without making all younger generations literal slaves for the older to sit on their 🫏s and complain.

I keep seeing these arguments and it leaves out the fact that the older population paid into Social Security their entire lives with the promise it would be there for them one day. It could easily be said that it would be morally reprehensible to rip it from them.
I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.

There is not enough people in younger generations to continue it. Like 1/4 of gen z was aborted, add in the sterilization and people choosing not to have kids, and it's a recipe for disaster. And flooding the country with the 3rd world who just take not produce makes it worse.

If you’re wondering how our elections in America are always so close, like how Democrats pulled ahead in Virginia’s redistricting within a few percentage points, this is how Former CIA Operations Officer Gary Berntsen explains there are teams of people who rig our elections and keep the vote totals extremely close, by slim margins, so it’s believable and hard to prove fraud Lara Logan interviews Former CIA operations officer Gary Berntsen. He explains, in detail, how elections are being stolen in America He describes there are teams of statisticians, mathematicians, and hackers who map out every county and identify where margins can be quietly adjusted Different techniques are used in each location so nothing matches in a recount. When a 70-30 county becomes 68-32, nobody notices. But when you add up these differences across an entire state, those tiny amounts of fraud decide outcomes Both former CIA operations officer Gary Berntsen and author Ralph Pezzullo explain the strategy. They explain they don't flip the big blue cities. Instead they shave votes in the places no one ever audits “They know where they can find the dead people... Mm-hmm.” “They plan this, It's meticulous. It's meticulous. These guys are experts at this. It's not just a few guys in a back room. You're talking about hundreds of statisticians and engineers, and they work it, you know, for a year to plan and mathematicians and hackers.” “We had a map out of Colorado when we were talking to our engineers, the guys that designed it, that stole the elections. — We just go to every one place where Trump wins 70-30 and — Shaved it off. We shave in every other place. We don't go near a Democratic place, because when they wanna do recounts, they're gonna go to the Democratic places. They don't realize we shaved in every other committee. We know every other county. We know how to do this. And then in each of those things where they shave, they shave with a different technique in each one of those. So if you found something in, in one county, there's no continuity around the state that way. So this is why the Republicans are so much at fault, because they have the power and the ability to show in their areas they can allow access to the machines, they can allow access to the source code” People need to go to prison. Democrats are stealing elections nationwide in every county, in every state of America

I would agree to a plan to phase out social security over the next 25 years, even knowing that it means the system will end right at the moment when I would start drawing a check. If that means that my kids and grandchildren aren’t subjected to this scam for their entire lives, I’m willing to take that hit. I just can’t for the life of me understand or relate to the older people who don’t feel that way and wouldn’t be willing to make the sacrifice for the sake of their descendants. Totally foreign mentality to me. I truly find it baffling. Setting my kids up for the future is like one of the only things I care about anymore.

I can't ever retire. It's an unsustainable system making life more difficult on younger generations. Aging populations will outnumber the young and it will get worse and worse. In China, the old depend on their children to look after them.. There's no good solution.

Matt, it's pretty easy to volunteer to give up your future Social Security when you've spent years making a very good living as a successful author, filmmaker and national media personality. The part that's tone deaf is saying you can't even understand older people who don't feel the same way. A lot of them aren't sitting on piles of money. They worked their whole lives, paid Social Security taxes their whole lives, and actually need that check to live. You're free to give yours up. But being baffled that someone living on $1,800 or $2,000 a month isn't as eager to make the same "sacrifice" is a hell of a lot easier when you're making that sacrifice from your position instead of theirs.

I'm poor and have $0 saved for retirement put away. My retirement plan is to never retire. The population will not sustain the broken system as the old will outnumber the young. I'll get nothing from Social Security. There won't be enough young people to pay all the old.

Nobody is taking away Social Security, but if they did, you would vote for communists in a hissy fit and burn down the country that your grandchildren will have to inherit? That's morally indefensible, obviously. Childish and petulant. Demanding that the government steal from young people the way it stole from you, and threatening to destroy everything if they don't, is such an abhorrent position that I'm surprised you aren't too embarrassed to say it publicly.

Usually I agree with you and I’m a staunch Republican but if you take away my Social Security I’m a Democrat for the first time in my life. I spent my entire life planning for retirement with Social Security a major part of it and paid into the systems as a young person so that the older generation could have some support I’ll make a deal with you, pay me back every penny I put into it and every penny my employers put into it on my behalf at 5% interest and you can take away the monthly checks.

Population decline means there will not be enough young people in existence to tax to death to support the aging populations. Boomers are like "I paid in! I WILL GET MY MONEY!!!" and they want it by any means as long as it's not them. They don't care about anyone else.

Hey boomers. Stop complaining and do the math. Population is declining. A large chunk of gen z was ABORTED. There will not be enough young people paying in to keep paying into this crooked scheme. Foreigners don't pay in, they take out draining it faster. SS won't last!

Yes, younger people just think: "They are taking from me to pay for the rich old people!' They don't realize that the old people had their wealth confiscated for decades based on a promise. The reasonable compromise is that we get the money back that we paid in, with interest.

Great, so what about the younger people paying in when they get old? Is this scheme to continue forever as population declines and the system runs out of young people to steal from? Did you know like 25% of gen Z was aborted?

Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution. That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds. Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported? Third, you “paid into” social security in a different time. The country is now bankrupted and 40 trillion dollars in debt, and basic things like housing are prohibitively expensive. It wasn’t like that when you were young, because your generation of leadership created this problem. So the theme here is that there are a bunch of problems you guys either created or contributed to. You can choose to pay the price for that now, or force your grandchildren to pay the price so you can live comfortably until you die and leave them holding the bag. You’ve chosen the latter, and I think that’s wrong. Simple as that.

Matt, the older people expecting Social Security have PAID INTO IT their entire lives. Young people are just doing the exact same thing we did. They're not getting some special punishment to subsidize older people. And older people have a higher net worth BECAUSE THEY'VE WORKED!

A lot of angry SS recipients. They don't consider for a second that social security ends with them and younger generation paying for their retirement will get NOTHING when they retire because it will be ended and will have nothing but immense debt the boomer generation created.

Stealing from young families to pay much higher net worth Boomers is immoral and ridiculous. Young families already have to deal with an economy where everything is exponentially more expensive than it was for Boomers at the same age. Older people clamoring to raise taxes on the young, on top of it all, is just perverse.
89% percent of baby boomers back higher taxes on younger Americans as a means to protect their Social Security benefits. 84% of those aged 55 to 64 also support tax hikes on young Americans who, on average, suffer an inferior quality of life to their parents. This is from a 2025 Cato Institute poll. Follow: @AFpost

We are forced to pay into something we won't even get ourselves, just so old people right now get paid what politicians already totally spent for fun. Boomers screwed other boomers with mass fraud and reckless spending, so now they screw us over to fix their problem.

Every Republican in Oklahoma and throughout the country needs to hear this. If your preferred candidate lost in the primary/runoff, don’t sit out the general. Don’t switch teams. I’ve been the one on the losing side before. It hurts. But voting for radical left Democrats isn’t the solution.
I get asked why some people seem to be so bitter about the Texas primary result. It's ok to be upset your guy didn't win. We have all lost battles. But you don't surrender the war because of it. This election is binary. Choose to live to fight another day or empower communists.
