the mountain slope analogy helped me understand the emphasis on gradient examination as the means to a solution, nice one youtu.be/vKdKtxpfvIc?t=356

If you can write CSS, you can write GSS { ● } I've been dreaming of this for years: a language to build 3D scenes like you write CSS. Selectors, cascade, :hover, keyframes… compiled to one GPU shader. Meet GSS: GPU Style Sheets. gss-lang.dev #shader #glsl #gss

I'm not an expert, but lately I've tried replying as if I'm continuing their narrative rather than disputing or creating a dialogue. For example, saying: "upon further examining, reason X as well as reason Y seem to affect..." like a monologue rather than a conversation

To be honest I don't think that making memorizing syntax trivial affects much. One thing programmers understand, is that coding never was about memorizing syntax, and instead was about understanding execution chains and organizing logic to be performed, regardless of language

all this time I've implied that I use Rust because I value type safety, yet I secretly use JavaScript for the front end instead of Typescript because I ain't got time for type safety. You be the judge

I feel like there's going to be a legitimate "What if" phase, where people are going to try out a bunch of things that they couldn't do before. Then it'll probably smooth back out again into planning and designing

I still don't understand why people like to emphasize this... I mean, vehicle manufacturing is largely automated these days, but that doesn't stop technicians from inspecting or just marveling at the product. Knowing and appreciating the code is a good thing

I still don't fully understand the bottleneck problem between JS and the DOM, which to my understanding prevents WASM from directly controlling a canvas element

Every now and then, I'll open up a file with raw neovim, bare minimum init.lua, and write code that doesn't even auto-populate double quotes or brackets. It's like a palate cleanser 😁
