Not every day is good, sometimes you want to give up, sometimes every bit of advice people give you is negative and it's hard to see through it.
But there are always better days ahead, just like everything else, you really have to work for them and cherish it.
Everyone good?
We know things are tough out there right now.
Indie games have never been an easy place to make a living, but lately it feels as though there is even more pressure. Developers trying to finish games, studios worrying about what comes next, artists and composers looking for work, publishers making difficult decisions, marketing teams trying to get games seen, and plenty of people quietly wondering whether all the effort is going to pay off.
So, with the weekend nearly here, this is simply a message from us at IGD to say: look after yourselves.
Switch off for a bit if you can. Step away from the build. Stop refreshing the numbers. Leave the emails until Monday. Play a game because you want to play it. Spend some time with the people who matter to you, get outside, have a lie-in, watch something rubbish, or do absolutely nothing productive.
Whatever you didn't manage to finish this week will still be there.
IGD has been around indie games for a long time, and one thing that has never changed is that behind every game, studio, project, trailer, press release and social post is a person.
Sometimes things go brilliantly. Sometimes a game doesn't find the audience it deserves. Sometimes opportunities disappear, projects stall, money gets tight or you simply have a bad week.
You don't have to pretend every week has been a good one.
We're all part of the same corner of the games industry, so let's keep looking out for one another.
Have a good weekend when it gets here. We're going to play some of the Indie Games we've bought and added to our library and get back to it fresh on Monday.
