So yesterday I decided a few things weren't working in Void Inc.
The minigames were cool, but the startup sim wasn't really how I wanted it, and it felt a little pointless and it was WAY overbaked + way too hard to understand.
So I changed to a 5 pillar system:
1. Customer trust
2. Infrastructure
3. Database
4. Code
5. Growth
Instead of juggling lots of disconnected stats, you can immediately see what needs attention, assign yourself and your and staff to those areas, and understand how their choices affect the company.
Growth pushes the company forward, while also creating more pressure on the other pillars, so the challenge becomes balancing expansion against keeping everything stable.
Just from my planning and the code I've done so far, it's made the game feel more strategic, more rewarding, and much clearer: you know what you're working toward, why something is getting worse, and what you need to do about it.
There's A LOT of new systems because of it, and a lot of changes, but when something isn't working, we try something else.
It also made the coffee system way more epic, especially when doing coffee for the whole team.
