RT @MariusKothor: Literally, none of this makes any sense. They’re always telling us AI is gonna create these incredible futures, but how…

I've written about this at length. It's a symptom of what I call the "utopian mindset," which has some similarities w the "suspension of disbelief." The utopian mindset thus provides a kind of license for people to make unrealistic claims because "somehow super-AI will solve it."
Literally, none of this makes any sense. They’re always telling us AI is gonna create these incredible futures, but how exactly? They never say. How is AI gonna double everybody’s lifespan within two years? This is just fraud at this point.

It feels like a lot of the hate and scorn being heaped onto DIGGER is part of a coordinated campaign; and if I had to guess it’s coming from the oil and gas industry. Which if true, is pretty f*cking funny, since the film is at its core a commentary on 1) the futility of Hollywood climate polemics, 2) the obliviousness of the oil and gas industry. So, no notes, just do your thing. It’s perfect. 👌

What is going on in France is a true Hybrid war conducted mostly by Russia and other foreign adversaries. EU should immediately create anti-foreign influence task force founded with billions of Euros and led by people who are experienced in the information warfare. I’d volunteer if needed.

Why doesn't Trump REALLY care about the Midterms? Because the board is already set. "Trump is telling those who know what he's actually doing, it's not going to work. You're not going to stop me." "All of my plans ... are going to proceed on the rails that we've set them on."

Anyone who saw Social Reckoning last week would have incredible doubts as to the veracity of the messages coming from Meta about suspending the key organizing account for democracy fifteen days before the elections. This shouldn’t happen to either party. It needs accountability.
We have continued to dig into the root cause here and would like to offer an update. Our engineering team discovered that the spike that triggered the incorrect enforcement was primarily in the account’s “reading” behavior. Specifically, our network security systems detected the use of a Claude tool reading profiles, posts, and hashtags, the rate of which sharply increased (~4x volume) in intense bursts on October 17. These abrupt, high-volume, sequential requests in a short period resembled automated bot traffic rather than an ordinary human browsing our systems. This activity caused our automated protections to incorrectly take the No Kings Instagram account offline. An automated re-review of the removal action an hour later recognized that shouldn’t have happened and restored the account. It unfortunately took additional time for us to straighten out the situation with admin access to the IG account. We want to reiterate our sincere apology for the error.

CONFIRMED: "Tommy"—the heckler who tried to gotcha El-Sayed at his Michigan town hall—is not some random guy. He is Thomas Teepell, Operations Director for Republican Senator Josh Hawley until February of this year. This explains why his "gotcha" targeted the Muslim candidate. The Handbasket first identified him via his X and Facebook profiles (Detroit) and LegiStorm, which confirms he ran Hawley’s Senate operations until February. Crooks and Liars, Newsy Today, and Lawyers Guns & Money have since confirmed it. Tommy’s father is Timmy Teepell, a Republican strategist who worked for Bobby Jindal (2004–2011), ran his 2015 presidential campaign, and helped Josh Hawley win as Missouri Attorney General in 2016 and U.S. Senator in 2018. Christian nationalist ties run deep. Timmy is described as the “most powerful ally” of Sean Feucht, who preaches Christian supremacy. Video shows Feucht praying over father and son. Tommy interviewed on-stage with Feucht at his D.C. headquarters in April 2024. On October 2, the University of Michigan student paper revealed that America Next—a PAC founded by Bobby Jindal—offered College Republicans $200 to attend El-Sayed’s Flint town hall, boo him, and ask inflammatory questions for viral moments. Nothing happened in Flint; then Tommy appeared in Caro. El-Sayed disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood on the spot, spent four minutes dismantling the question, and Tommy walked out. The “gotcha” was on him.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

I would like to thank all those who have prayed for me in recent days. I wish to express my particular gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of the Gemelli Hospital. This experience has made me feel particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity. Now that I have overcome this delicate phase I will gradually resume my activities, always with God’s help and your prayers.

And now I’m going to tell you f̶r̶o̶m̶ w̶h̶i̶c̶h̶ d̶i̶r̶e̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ t̶h̶e̶ a̶t̶t̶a̶c̶k̶ o̶n̶ B̶e̶l̶a̶r̶u̶s̶ w̶a̶s̶ b̶e̶i̶n̶g̶ p̶r̶e̶p̶a̶r̶e̶d̶ what’s actually going to happen instead of all this hysterical white noise desperately trying to drown out the inevitable: The Orange Man is going to lose the elections with a deafening crash, and spend the rest of his time in office, along with his entire administration, desperately fending off a third impeachment, countless investigations, and criminal prosecutions for all his wild antics. And all this pompous posturing will finally come to an end. As for Putin, he can play Stalin all he wants, fantasize endlessly about carving up the world into three spheres of influence at some imaginary new “Yalta,” and unleash as many hordes of bots on social media as he likes. But when, at the end of the fifth year of your glorious blitzkrieg against Ukraine, you’re still banging your head against Mala Tokmachka, suffering your second defeat at Lyman, while Ukraine is bombing Moscow and St. Petersburg, and when you’re 1.5% of the global economy, all these fantasies can only impress a handful of useful idiots from Elon Musk’s freak show. And the man sitting next to him at this imaginary Yalta is, to put it mildly, no Roosevelt. He’s a semi-coherent, half-con artist from trashy reality TV who has failed spectacularly in Iran and has no idea how to get away with that. As for the Chinese emperor, it’s not even clear why he would want to take part in this lunatic circus in the first place, let alone share power with these people.

I was very surprised to learn that our vice president has spoken on the phone with Putin. That is very uncharacteristic of Putin to have a call with any US government official besides the president. Are there any readouts of these calls?
Vance: "I've never met Putin in person. I've spoken to him on the phone. He was calmer than you might expect. The American media has a stereotype of him. He's very deliberate and measured in his words. I think, at his core, he's someone who cares about Russia's interests as he sees them. One reason he respects the President is that he recognizes the President cares about the interests of the American people." x.com/Acyn/status/1958307741…

Blatantly lying to us when they know we know they're blatantly lying to us is a form of emotional abuse meant to keep us feeling powerless and without recourse.
Is JD Vance seriously this willfully blind? Talk about falling straight into a propaganda trap. He goes on Laura Ingraham's show and gushes about how "soft spoken" and "deliberate" Vladimir Putin is on the phone. This isn’t deep political realism, it’s incredibly naive. A brutal autocrat who invades countries and commits war crimes isn't going to scream at you on a phone call. He uses a quiet tone precisely to make people think he's reasonable. Wake up.
