🚨 URGENT! President Trump, my husband Andre Khachatoorian an American citizen, has been wrongfully detained in Russia for almost five years. His health is deteriorating, and now there are reports of pneumonia in the Irkutsk region. Please don’t wait. #BringAndrehome 🙏🇺🇸
Irkutsk, Russia: The U.S. Embassy is aware of press reports from the Irkutsk region of suspected pneumonic plague resulting in the death of an individual and of associated quarantine measures in, and closures of, hospitals in Irkutsk. We continue to track the situation closely. The U.S. government has limited ability to help U.S. citizens in Russia, especially outside of Moscow. The State Department’s Level 4 Travel Advisory (Do Not Travel) for Russia remains in place and states U.S. citizens currently in Russia should depart immediately. U.S. citizens planning travel to Russia are again strongly advised not to travel to Russia due to risk of wrongful detention and security concerns. More at: ru.usembassy.gov/health-aler…

❗️Health Alert for U.S. citizens in Russia The U.S. U.S. government personnel may face additional restrictions for personal and official travel to specific regions due to health and security concerns. Actions to Take: - U.S. citizens in the area should follow the guidance of local health authorities, avoid affected facilities, and seek medical care promptly if they develop fever or respiratory symptoms. - Visit the CDC Travelers’ Health Page for Russia for country-specific health updates. - Monitor your health for 14 days following travel if you traveled to an area experiencing the outbreak. - Review the U.S. Embassy country page for general health information. - Refer to the Embassy’s list of medical providers. - Check with your travel insurance provider about medical evacuation options should you fall ill while overseas. - Have a plan to depart in an emergency that does not depend on U.S. government help. - Monitor local media for updates. Be prepared to adjust your plans. - Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive health and security updates. The State Department’s Level 4 Travel Advisory (Do Not Travel) for Russia remains in place and states U.S. citizens currently in Russia should depart immediately. Nominee for @StateSPEHA announced by @POTUS. IMO if confirmed, Mr. @johnpcoale’s success securing the freedom of Americans detained in Belarus & the freedom of former U.S. marine Robert Gilman from Russia should give families of American hostages & wrongful detainees confidence that he understands the diplomatic strategies needed to bring home their loved ones. And to outgoing @aboehler - thank you for your service to our American hostages & wrongful detainees. Thank you for reuniting so many families. We hope you will continue to stay engaged on the issue with us - we know the stories and homecomings you’ve witnessed have touched your heart deeply. 🙏🇺🇸
I am pleased to announce that John Coale, Esq., a great lawyer and my incredibly successful Envoy for Belarus, will be my new Nominee for Special Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs, with the rank of Ambassador. John has already secured the return of over 65 Americans and Allied Citizens from Belarus over the last year, and negotiated the release of more than 800 political prisoners from multiple countries in Eastern Europe. He will work tirelessly in this new post to bring American Citizens home. Adam Boehler, who has done an incredible job, bringing back 196 hostages, will continue to assist in other matters, as Senior Advisor. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP ( TS: Oct 4 2026, 8:22 AM ET )‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍

HAW Daily Brief 1/2 Senate Passes Titus Legislation to Protect Hostages and Wrongful Detainees from Tax Penalties hostageaid.org/senate-passes… Washington D.C. - Congresswoman Dina Titus “I am pleased to report that my End Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act passed the Senate and is on its way to the President's desk,” said Rep. Titus. “It goes without saying that no one who has endured wrongful detention or been taken hostage abroad should face the additional burden of onerous tax penalties incurred through no fault of their own. This bill would eliminate that unthinkable possibility by cutting red tape in our tax code and codifying a critical support mechanism for wrongful detainees, hostages, and their families here in the United States.” @repdinatitus

Thank you to Senators @ChrisCoons and @RoundsforSenate, their staffs, and the bipartisan, bicameral congressional champions for advancing the End Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act, which passed the Senate this week and now moves to the President's desk for signature. No American should return from hostage-taking or wrongful detention only to face IRS penalties for taxes they could not pay while in captivity. The Foley Foundation was proud to advocate for this reform. This issue has surfaced repeatedly in our independent research with survivors of hostage-taking, including our latest report, Beyond Release: Recovery After Hostage-Taking and Wrongful Detention. HAW Daily Brief 1/1 Trump’s Latest Appeal to Russia Could Outrage Even His Allies hostageaid.org/trumps-latest…  Washington D.C. - The Atlantic Trump’s envoy wants to trade Russian political prisoners for U.S. sanctions relief, creating a path to business deals before the war in Ukraine ends. A few months ago, Donald Trump’s envoy to Eastern Europe came to the president with a new idea for breaking the deadlock in U.S. relations with Moscow. The plan involved a quid pro quo reminiscent of the Cold War: The Kremlin would free some political prisoners, and the United States would reward their release by easing sanctions on the Russian economy. Trump signed on.
