How Storm Watch works

We’re excited to join @PGE4Me and @Google on a new distributed power plant program in the San Jose area that brings our speed-to-power vision with Renew Home and @teslaenergy to life. Working together, Sunrun, Renew Home, and Tesla will enroll nearly 21,000 existing home energy devices into the program, immediately unlocking 12 MW of local energy capacity through demand response and battery dispatch. The new capacity is expected to begin supporting the grid as early as fall 2026. The program plans to test how energy already stored and managed in homes through batteries, home solar, and smart thermostats can help relieve local grid constraints and make better use of existing infrastructure while helping put downward pressure on rates for everyone in the region. Most importantly, the program provides benefits to customers for their participation.
