17 years, 4 cars, 1,026,976 km, all mine and all real numbers, not brochure values. The two Peugeot diesels burned 35,280 litres over 659,000 km, that is almost 30 tonnes of fuel, and at today's โฌ2.392/l in Bavaria it would cost โฌ84,389. The same 659,000 km in my 2019 Model 3 would cost about โฌ42,000 charged at home, losses included. A short thread for everybody who still thinks EVs are "too expensive" to run ๐งต

1/ FSD Europe update, 8 October ๐ช๐บ Still 8 EU countries with FSD (Supervised): Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Belgium, Slovenia, Czechia and Croatia. The rest of the last 48 hours is either "pending" or a minister talking.

5/ December math: an EU wide yes needs 15 of 27 states and 65% of the population. The 8 cover about 12.6%. Germany adds 18.6%, France 15.2%, Italy 13.1%. Even all three only get you to 59.5%, so Spain or Poland have to join too.

6/ The risk nobody mentions: under Art. 39(7) a "no" in Brussels revokes the Dutch approval six months later, and the national ones built on it go too. And no December agenda is published yet, so anyone "confirming" a vote is guessing.

The most important aspect of the ๐ฉ๐ช German Transport Minister's statement is that he will advocate for the approval of an ๐ช๐บ EU-wide regulation for "FSD Supervised."
The conditions and restrictions agreed upon with Tesla are minor and acceptable.
This represents enormous progress, given that Germany is a heavyweight in Europe (18% populations share) and exerts significant influence on EU decisions.
The likelihood of a vote and approval taking place in December, followed by a rollout a few months later, in 2027, in all EU countries has increased significantly.

This involves clarifying numerous technical details as well as addressing questions of liability. I discussed this matter with Tesla in September. Wall Street "doesn't believe" people buy Teslas for FSD. On the Q2 call Musk said many buy FSD "with a car attached", and Tesla counted 1.48M paid FSD customers, up 56% in a year. In the Netherlands, first EU country to approve it, Model Y and 3 were September's top two cars.

My European receipt: exactly โฌ4,500 for FSD in 2019 on my first Tesla, a Model 3 LR. 6.5 years and 345,300 km later it never ran FSD Supervised, since the European approval covers HW4 cars only, in 8 countries, not Germany. So yes, I "bought FSD", the car came attached ๐ช๐บ
