#cpfc and a bit of politics. Back on here, on other platforms more visibly.

This is probably all they have: criteria which the EU will not stick too, partly because Ireland would have to join Schengen as well. It’s desperate rather than admitting it’s unpopular but we are doing it anyway. But in this theoretical world where those red lines will exist, let’s explore the different options: #brexit #ukeu
🚨BREAKING: A New Poll has revealed that Brits are AGAINST re-joining the European Union A new YouGov poll revealed that just 35% of Brits supported re-joining due to the requirements that the UK would have to join Schengen and adopt the Euro Brexit is done We're not going back

Helpfully quoted by Simon Clarke, it is the view of Barnier (merely a personal view but an important one) that us keeping the pound and the the common travel area will not be an issue. #rejoinEU
"No cherry picking." Michel Barnier, the man who negotiated Brexit for the EU, welcomes Andy Burnham weighing up whether the UK should rejoin the EU. But he has a familiar warning about the possible terms. #R4Today

€3m? Three. Million. Euros. 😶
On Wednesday, just hours after the verdict officially confirming Manchester City’s guilt, the Commission responsible for Portugal's witness protection programme informed me of its decision to terminate my participation in the programme and withdraw my police protection, thereby knowingly placing me in a life-threatening situation. Given these circumstances, I have no alternative but to relocate, within the next few days, to an undisclosed location for an indefinite period of time, due to the multiple death threats I have received and the serious risk of an assassination attempt against me. For this reason, I have just set up a GoFundMe campaign and I am asking for everyone's support to help me survive this serious situation created by the Portuguese State, which, as I have already stated, has knowingly decided to place my life at risk. I would like to take this opportunity to extend a special thanks to everyone who continues to support Football Leaks, and I can give everyone one guarantee: the fight will most certainly continue! gofundme.com/f/help-save-rui…

Irrefutable data (don’t let those trick you into red herrings like only rejoin on euro etc - this is from the SAME dataset): - There is a clear majority, remain or leave, to have a closer relationship with the EU. - Only 16% of all Brits want a looser relationship with the EU. This will be the reality if we leave the ECHR, as per @Conservatives and @reformparty_uk Policy. The majority of leavers even oppose this. Well outside the MoE. This is untenable. @GoodwinMJ what say you?

So selling it as the “Status Quo” vs “Rejoin” is a lie. There will be no status quo when @Conservatives and @reformparty_uk And those unsure, thinking we are ok with a zero tariff, zero quota deal, should be mindful of that.

So these people want to shut out rejoin - fine. Not my strategic choice if I was them. But THERE IS a strong indication the public mood wants closer integration with the EU. Come what may.

This is genuinely troubling. Anti GFA agitators like @carlalockhart and @JamieBrysonLLB are on the march in Northern Ireland. Deliberately turning a march into a nationalist because they want to stoke division and violence. Sinn Fein have played into their hands on this one but be under no illusion- the responsibility lies on Jamie and he is getting what he wants out of it.

Dear PSNI. the Garvaghy Road Residents submitted a counter protest notification on Saturday 26th September before the ping pong in courts late sat & sun morning. If the OO parade determination is still "LIVE" the GR Residents counter-protest notification is still "LIVE" too.

The OO walking down the road RIGHT BESIDE IT, which is the EXACT same distance, would resolve everything. The only logical reason an anti-Catholic organisation would want to march past Catholic homes is sectarianism and triumphantism. I see absolutely no other reason.

Let me put my explainer on Triple Lock and what I would do. We already have a hybrid system of state and mandatory workplace pension contributions. This is not the case in France and Germany. Ending the triple lock can incentivise work for working age people and this is how/

Reducing Employers NI and Employees NI are Tax cuts I agree with. They are are barrier to work and are regressive. With that there should be increased mandatory workplace pension contributions, with no penalties for employees if they wish to combine their pensions. They would actually get a better deal than relying on the state pension.

The exception to this is those who can’t work (that’s not a big part of those who are on PIP) and those with caring responsibilities over a set period, to which there should be an allowance with their pension.

I'm rubbish at maths, so help me out folks. You want to retain the TLP? The triple lock will cost £15.5bn a year by 2030, triple the original estimate!! Guaranteed. Every year. No questions asked and rich pensioners collecting it like to go on another cruise...meanwhile Young Brits: ▪️ Youth unemployment: 16.4%, highest in over a decade ▪️ Nearly a million 16-24s not in work, education or training ▪️ Average first-time buyer: 34yo... A generation locked out of jobs, locked out of homes, and told to fund everyone else's pay rise . WORSE still- the same people want net migration at zero. Birth rates declining....So who's paying? Where are your taxpayers for this colossal drain??

This is a serious test case with UK ramifications regarding the #ECHR A view held by @sinnfeinireland and others who sympathise with nationalism would be that UK courts cannot be trusted to fairly uphold human rights conventions. This makes @reformparty_uk @Conservatives (cc @TiceRichard @CPhilpOfficial ) “mates rates” reassurances on human rights in the GFA untenable.
"To the Justice Minister - who doesn't know whether Michelle O'Neill broke the law or not - that is a shameful position."

Just to delve in - the residents on the road affected have an Article 8 argument that they can in theory take all the way up the Strasbourg if they feel high court had got the balance wrong vs article 11. If @reformparty_uk or @Conservatives get their way - that right - currently enshrined in the Good Friday Agreement- would be denied.

There will be a renegotiation required if we leave the ECHR, and Sinn Fein have just added to their list of grievances. Don’t believe those that say it is a piece of cake. Challenge.
