Elon is building this to produce up to 10 million Optimus robots per year. I don't think he understands that most people can't afford thousands of dollars for a robot.
Giga Texas Optimus factory construction update with 2 short video clips, one 360 at medium-altitude & a closer, lower flight showing tight views of the main steel structure!
Ground work started in late March, with 1st steel on May 27. By 1 October, the frame was nearly at the north grade beam, large sections of upper floors were poured, & roofing insulation is arriving. The E side & the entire S half of the foundation have footings & grade beams, but no steel yet. The basic steel structure is ~ 40% assembled so far.
This is the dedicated high-volume 7+ million sq ft (~ 650,000 sq m) Gen 4 Optimus plant. @Tesla has not given a standalone cost, but 2026 company capex was guided at ~ $20โ25 billion for AI, robotics, & factory expansion; outside estimates put the broader N Campus at ~ $5โ10 billion.
This is in addition to the Fremont California Optimus plant (which is the Gen 3 pilot line) is sized at ~ 1 million units a year, expected to begin production in late 2026.
The Giga Texas plant is 10X larger & has a planned capacity of ~10 million robots a year at full scale (a long-term ceiling, not the startup rate). The current target for limited initial production is late 2027.
What is still ahead for construction over the next 6 to 8 months? Electrical conduit, water & sewage pipes, fire-water loop, storm water management drainage & underground pipes, exterior walls, roofing, ground slab & upper floor concrete & mechanical rough-in then equipment deliveries & installation. As you can see, lots of progress already, but there is a lot left to do before production line setup can happen.

Can people stop calling every single open world city map "GTA" already? There are hundreds of world city games. Just because it's a city with cars and pedestrians doesn't make it anything remotely like "GTA". By that logic, you can call Sim City "GTA", or the Simpsons "GTA", or Watch Dogs "GTA". Just stop. Also, Rockstar would never make a GTA based in India. GTA is largely a satirical take on America.
Also, a 3d Miami generated city from Google Earth data does not make it a "GTA" game. I saw people calling the Miami plane demo like "GTA".
I gave Opus 5.5 one night and a homelab.

This is happening in the same city I'm currently in. She'll be executed in the next couple hours if it's not happening at this moment already.
Christa Pike is scheduled to be executed today in the U.S., and reports say she has declined a last meal.
She has just hours left, and I honestly canโt imagine what must be going through her mind right now. Some people believe she deserves the punishment, while others are calling for mercy because of her age at the time of the crime and the abuse she suffered growing up.

This is crazy.. Car companies are literally just selling people's car location to companies.
โ๏ธ Car apps are sending the vehicle's VIN and location for ad and tracking purposes to companies like Google, Meta, Microsoft, Snap, Adobe and data broker Acxiom, researchers found.
Of the 30 carmaker apps tested, six sent the VIN to ad, tracking or analytics firms alongside an email, phone number or precise location, and four of those were made by General Motors.
A VIN is a unique identifier that always stays with the car and can never be reset.
The GM apps in question are myChevrolet, myCadillac, myBuick and myGMC.

This morning this FBI and our partners the Dutch National Police are announcing the arrest of one of the alleged leaders of ShinyHunters - a global cybercrime and threat actor group linked to cyberattacks in the United States, the Netherlands, and around the world.
In coordination with FBI investigators the Dutch High-Tech Crime Unit arrested the suspect under Dutch law. As we speak FBI teams are actively working with partners to obtain and execute more leads in the ongoing investigation based on this arrest.
