November 25, 2006. BYU vs Utah. 3 seconds left in the game. Down 4 points. Beck can't get the ball off. He scrambles. Then out of nowhere -- finds a way to hit Harline on the far side of the end zone. Unbelievable. Have been addicted ever since. youtube.com/watch?v=_3D5d_ta…

In 1941, San José State traveled by boat to Hawai’i to play 2 postseason bowl games. Pearl Harbor was hit on December 7, and the games were never played. Several SJSU players helped in recovery efforts, helping the injured and even delivering babies. Some stayed in Hawai’i full time to assist in the war. It’s a wonderful story and a testament to how Football teaches positive lessons and that some things are bigger than Football. 2025 Notre Dame was also invited to a bowl game and didn’t play in one, because they didn’t really feel like it.

Objectively, how do you defend this: Miami (10–2) – ESPN SOS: 45 – ESPN SOR: 14 – Did not play for a conference championship – Losses: Two 8–4 teams (SMU, Louisville) BYU (11–2) – ESPN SOS: 22 – ESPN SOR: 9 – Played in the Big 12 championship – Losses: No. 4 Texas Tech on the road & in the Big 12 title game Notre Dame (10–2) – ESPN SOS: 44 – ESPN SOR: 13 – Did not play for a conference championship – Losses: Miami (who lost to two 8–4 teams) & No. 7 Texas A&M

RT if your team would win 10 or more games against Notre Dame’s 2026 schedule. Toughest away game is Syracuse 😂
Notre Dame has the cheat code figured out…😲

Over the last 50 yrs, BYU is the most underrated team in ALL of college football AND in ALL of college basketball (well, tied with Texas Tech in MBB) -One sport is a disappointing curiosity... -Two sports is a problematic pattern... -Taking the data over 50 years in both sports is outright bias &/or cospiracy &/or bigotry (These calculations were done based on last year's final data, so BYU will add another year & several places to the data for this year's CFB team)

The thing that ultimately gets me is this: There have been 61 power teams to go 11-1 in the CFP era. Every other one has finished top 10 after the regular season. All but two were top 7. What is the argument for BYU being uniquely unimpressive among that group? There isn't one.

Great work here by @RedditCFB. Comments and images are from them. Take a look at these altered graphics by ESPN/ABC from this past weekend: #1: Shown on the majority of broadcasts & excludes teams ranked 11th and 13th. #2: shown during the BYU-UCF game. For this one, ESPN decided for the "W-L vs RANKED OPP" stat to only include games against teams who were ranked at the time of play instead of games vs current CFP ranked opponents. ESPN didn't convey this distinction to the audience so any casual viewer would probably think that BYU's resume wasn't Comparable to Oklahoma and Alabama. #3: ESPN finally gets it right and shows an unbiased graphic during the Notre Dame-Stanford game which started in the 10:30 PM EST. Look at how the statistics differ between this graph and what was shown during the BYU-UCF game. #4: BYU excluded from graph that was shown during the CFP ranking show. Now Pitt and Tennessee have both fallen out of the CFP rankings so Oklahoma, Alabama, Notre Dame and Miami all lost a ranked win compared to what was shown Saturday. Maybe that's why they went back to excluding BYU from the discussion as now BYU has a better or equal(Alabama) record against ranked opponents compared to the other bubble teams.

If you're going to penalize a 1-loss Power Conference team for a weak strength of schedule... BYU's SOS is better than Ole Miss and Notre Dame. If you're going to penalize a team for not having the strongest power ratings (which incorporate prior year's history and recruiting rankings)... BYU's FPI is higher than Oklahoma's. If you're going to penalize a team for a non-competitive / bad loss... Alabama lost by 14 to a team with a losing record and Miami lost to two unranked teams. If you're going to use strength-of-record like you indicated you would, BYU's SOR is the second highest of teams 6-12. BYU also (1) made its conference championship game and (2) if you sum up the wins of the teams it has beaten, it is THIRD in the country. It is hard to win games and BYU has beaten a lot of teams with a lot of wins. This. Makes. No. Sense. The @CFBPlayoff should be ashamed of itself. It has literally contorted itself into a pretzel to avoid putting BYU where it should be ranked (somewhere between 6th - 9th). RT to get the info out there. They need to feel pressure.

How 96’ BYU CHANGED College Football (and why the CFP hates them still)….. It’s 1996 and BYU just won the WAC Title game over 10 win (and #20 final ranked) Wyoming. They became the 1st Div I college football team to play 14 games in a scheduled regular season. They are 13-1 and ranked #5 heading into the bowl season. All projections are for them to make the Fiesta Bowl with LaVell Edwards being flown out for the selection ceremony. However, BYU gets shafted by the Bowl Alliance and is put into the Cotton Bowl to play against KSU. BYU would win the game 19-15 to cap off a 14-1 season. BYU files a lawsuit against the Alliance Committee and a US Congressional hearing takes place. Corruption, money and not letting the “Little Guys” get a fair shot against top teams are at the forefront. This all leads to the BCS playoff system and later CFP format. BYUs lawsuit led to a new era where other schools like Utah, Boise State and TCU would get their share at the “Big Boys” table by upsetting the top schools in their respective NY6 Bowl Games. I think the Committee is doing BYU dirty for what they did to them in 96’ and for winning the 84’ national title. Ofc, we can’t forget 01’ BYU entered their last game against Hawaii with a 12-0 record AND were told prior to kickoff they weren’t invited to ANY BCS games. #BYUFootball #Big12FB

The more you look at it, Oregon’s résumé isn’t even close to BYU’s. Oregon’s best win is 6-4 Iowa. BYU beat: #12 Utah 7-3 Arizona 7-3 East Carolina 6-4 Iowa State (who beat Iowa) 6-4 TCU The Cougars have five wins better than Oregon’s best, and they’re 4 spots behind them.
Oregon: • 0-1 vs. current Top 25 • Best win: 6-4 Iowa • Second best win: 6-4 Minnesota • Lost at home to #2 Indiana BYU: • 1-1 vs. current Top 25 • Best win: #12 Utah • Second best win: 7-3 Arizona • Lost on the road to #5 TTU It seems like these two should be flipped.
