I’m proud to announce that Washington Capitals forward, Tom Wilson, has invested in Collaborative Fund.
Our team spends a lot of time thinking about the companies we back, but we’re also deliberate about who backs us. In the same way a successful startup can be choosy about what checks to accept, we think our limited partners say as much about us, and what we care about, as our investments do. The source of capital matters.
One of the things I am most proud of is the eclectic group of backers we’ve attracted over the years – including the likes of Nicholas Negroponte, Chad Hurley, Pharrell Williams, Shepard Fairey, and even Sesame Street. Technologists, entrepreneurs, artists, and people who see the world differently. I look at that group and feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude that they’ve trusted us.
Today, I’m excited to officially welcome Tom as an investor in our fund.
If you didn’t grow up going to Caps games with your dad like I did, allow me a brief primer on why for 13 brilliant seasons I’ve been watching Tom establish himself as one of the best hockey players in the world.
Tom came into the league at age 19 as a first-round pick who mostly hit people, a job he was extremely good at. Plenty of players make a fine career out of it. Instead, somewhere in his twenties, he decided to become a different kind of player, so he put in the work and brought back the receipts: back-to-back 30-goal seasons, a Stanley Cup in 2018, and a spot on the top line of the 2026 Canadian Olympic team.
Our industry likes to write lists about what founders should be: relentless, coachable, obsessed. The lists aren't wrong, they're just not that useful, because no one has ever become relentless by reading about it. You learn it by doing it.
Tom is doing it. He is the definition of grit, hardwork, and resilience. Those are qualities I value in entrepreneurs and in anyone I want to build something with.
Tom is already a fan and customer of several of our portfolio companies. I’m excited to build on that connection as we continue backing companies pushing the world forward, especially in sports, health, and wellness (and dogs!).

Proud to share that Tristan Walker is joining Collaborative Fund as a Partner.
In that role, he'll be a voice for the kind of company-building we stand for and a resource for the founders pursuing it. We've long believed that the best people to support founders are other founders, specifically those who have built enduring, values-driven companies through the full cycle of highs and lows. Tristan is a textbook example of that.
The relationship here goes back over a decade. I backed Tristan when he launched Walker & Company and watched up close as he built Bevel with incredible clarity and integrity. That journey eventually led to an acquisition by Procter & Gamble, proving that you can build a successful brand by serving communities the market overlooks.
Tristan's experience isn't limited to a single win. He was the third employee at Foursquare, an EIR at Andreessen Horowitz, and co-founded Code2040 to help diversify Silicon Valley. Today, he brings a wealth of governance and leadership experience from his board service at Shake Shack, Foot Locker, and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. And he's still building: his latest venture, Heirloom, is working to reshore American fine craft, training the next generation of artisans and rebuilding the supply chains behind it.
At Collaborative, we look for builders rather than just allocators. Tristan's track record as a founder and his deep roots in both business and civic life make him an invaluable partner for the founders we support.
We're lucky to have him on the team. Between Tristan and Parker Hayden, who joined earlier this year to lead Collab Holdings, we've added two partners this year who love to build.

This @espn story by @emilymkaplan brought back so many memories: the early years, the playoff runs, the Stanley Cup, the record, and the bond Alex built with this city and his teammates.

Excited to lead Nomio's $4M round.
Nomio, a Swedish purveyor of functional wellness shots for elite athletes, closed a $4M funding round led by Collaborative Fund.
Launched in early 2025, Nomio identified a natural compound called isothiocyanates (ITCs) that has measurable effects on athletic performance. Derived from broccoli sprouts, ITCs have been shown to reduce lactate, lower oxidative stress, and improve recovery time.
