London
Coroner Richard Travers today found that Hayden’s (@JusticeForHBN) death was contributed to by neglect, that there was a failure to provide basic medical attention and that he would have survived if not for gross failures in his care. 8 years after his death, 7 years after his first inquest, 3 years after the High Court quashed @SmirkyRadcliffe’s first inquest, the truth of how our son died has now been properly and honestly recorded.
Hayden would have turned 8 years old today. Despite the cruel and evil attempt to cover up the circumstances of his death by the clinicians involved and Coroner @SmirkyRadcliffe, 8 years after his death we have a date for Hayden's second inquest.

1/ We discovered something totally unexpected about the neural structure of consciousness that overturns decades of thinking on its biological basis and brings us significantly closer to the recipe for generating conscious awareness. The stupidity, the stupidity, the stupidity … and the tragedy of this. Britain will become poorer, weaker, more divided. All because of an ideological ruling class that prioritises empty moralising (of course, one-sided) over competence, growth and delivering for their citizens.

Planes are literally a scam, the most sophisticated scam ever. They created a machine that mimics the output of birds. Then told everyone it was really flying — an impossibility, but the illusion was convincing. Based on that deception, they fleeced investors of trillions.

Okay, so matrix multiplication on silicon isn’t thinking, but the flow of sodium ions through protein channels embedded in a lipid bilayer is? Why do materialists turn to animist reasoning when the substrate is carbon-based instead of silicon?

Torvalds is super based.
Linus Torvalds to the anti-AI crowd: stop using compilers if you want to prove they’re REAL programmers. LOL. “you had better not use an editor to write that commit message either. The kind of expectations *I* have is that people do their best and I expect people to understand what they are doing. But that understanding has very little to do with what tools they use. And quite honestly, in my experience, the people I respect and call intelligent are not the ones that shy away from using new and interesting tools.”

There's an even funnier letter. When Engels' wife died, Marx sent him a letter that barely acknowledged "Fred"'s loss in a single sentence before immediately jumping on to begging for money. Engels got angry with him over it. 😆
Marxists: “Reject the bourgeois ethic of individual giving.” Marx:

I HATE Siri, but wish I didn't. The WORST experiences: 1. Hey Siri play music > Shuffle or Songs? WTF. How am I supposed to respond? Just play my music. Shuffle what? my entire library? Songs what? I'm brain dead, just play some music. 2. Hey Siri set a timer for 20 minutes >I've set a timer for 20 minutes Hey Siri how much time is left on the timer? > There are no timers set on the Kitchen HomePod. There are no timers set on iPhone WTF. 3. Hey Siri who is this X author? [Asking HomePod mini] > Want me to open it on your iPhone? NO. Tell me here. I don't want a Wikipedia article on my iPhone. 4. Hey Siri AI ... turn up the music [while I'm driving]. > Sorry, did you say turn it up or turn it off? WTF, ugh. I'm driving. 5. Why does Siri AI not dismiss with a swipe? Why does it cover my driving directions in Apple Maps? It's so obnoxious and in the way with the new Siri AI design. I can't see where I need to turn. Please fix. 🙏 @johnternus @Apple @AppleSupport @gregjoz
Apple is a LITTLE out of touch with the state of Siri. Siri is just plain terrible. My wife refuses to use it. I keep trying it as a "lunatic fringe" AI fantatic and it keeps letting me down. Simple things like setting a timer, checking in on that timer, are just plain broken. You've got to test the software. Siri is still terrible, even with Siri AI, it has a new set of problems that make it just plain dumb, slow, and frustrating to use. @gregjoz @AppleSupport @apple @johnternus macrumors.com/2026/10/15/gre…

Interesting stats in light of the “£35B black hole” announced today. One to add, after WW2 less than 3% of people were deemed too sick to work (including those injured in war and with an inferior health service) …
Excellent article in the Wall Street Journal on Britain's unsustainable welfare spending: — 7 million people (over 10% of the UK population) now claim at least one or more sickness or disability benefit. This is up 60% in the past 6 years. — The UK will spend over £100 billion pound this year on sickness and disability benefits. This is projected to increase to £130 billion a year by 2030. — No other Western country has seen such a rise in disability claims. In the US, 10.6 million people claim some form of federal disability payment, despite the population being 5x larger. — 1 in 7 new cars sold in the UK are under the Motability scheme; however, only 10% of cars are modified for a disability. In one dealership, 25 out of 26 cars they sold in August were all under the Motability scheme. — Charities, consultants, YouTubers and TikTokers have all sprung up, telling people how to maximise benefit access. Some of these videos receive hundreds of thousands of views. Over 1,000 people a day are signing on for PIP. — According to a Government survey from 2024, 25% of the UK's working age population could theoretically be classed as disabled under the current criteria and access these benefits. — A minimum wage worker who works 40 hours per week would take home around £1,880 per month after tax; however, if you are classed as too sick to work and claim PIP, you can take home £2,000 tax free per month. wsj.com/world/uk/united-king…
