WRT this latest round of Tucker discourse, I find it sad that society writ large has become so jaded that when a public figure changes their mind, the default observation is that they have cynically evolved because it's a “grift.”

Alaska — where a quarter of non-college males with a blue-collar job earns six figures — seemed to me a promising place to look.
After much research and reporting from the state, however, I regretfully conclude that it offers nothing in the way of a positive model for the country.
Alaska's hefty blue-collar wages rest on its irreplicable natural resources and are amplified by the compensating differential required by its harsh working conditions. If anything, Alaska presents a distilled version of the national challenge we have connecting bottom-half men with economic opportunities.

I won't begrudge those interested in debating the most free market way to do immigration.
But I want to focus on agreement. Michael would "support reforms to the system that made it what it was advertised to be". IMO most in the debate would agree to set of substantive reforms
I know what trick you’re trying to pull here. Average salaries currently don’t tell us everything. more that the industries H1-Bs are in belong to the top earning ones, we would expect that higher paying firms are the ones who will pay for labor price arbitrage.
I would support reforms to the system that made it what it was advertised to be, an actual program for bringing in the absolute best talent from around the world. Although we could also expand the O Visa system.
