DVAC arrests fire officer for getting bribe from doctor to give NOC to clinic. The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) arrested an Assistant District Fire Officer in Thiruvannamalai district on Wednesday for accepting a Rs 10,000 bribe from a doctor for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a proposed clinic/hospital. The complainant, Dr Ganesh, a resident of Chengam taluk, had applied for the NOC. According to the DVAC, Assistant District Fire Officer B Saravanan demanded Rs 10,000 to issue the certificate. Unwilling to pay the bribe, Ganesh approached the DVAC’s Thiruvannamalai detachment, following which a case was registered and a trap was organised on Wednesday. During the trap, Saravanan demanded and accepted the Rs 10,000 from the complainant. He was subsequently arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
