The poetry of physics.
The great professors that Microsoft, Internet, social media, and more lately AI eliminated.
An Indian institute filmed a professor teaching classical physics with no notes, no slides, and a green board. Almost nobody outside India watches it.
This is Classical Physics, lecture 1, taught by V. Balakrishnan at IIT Madras, published free by NPTEL, India's national open courseware programme.
Balakrishnan taught at IIT Madras for decades. Students who sat in that room describe the same thing: the whole subject held in his head, delivered in order, no paper on the podium.
Lecture 1 is the introduction. What classical mechanics claims, where the claims hold, and the exact points where they stop holding and quantum takes over.
Watch how he speaks. Complete sentences, no filler, each idea finished before the next begins. Rare in any lecture hall on any continent.
A physicist I know worked through the whole NPTEL series and rates it above the western courses he paid for.
Free on YouTube, 17 years online, low resolution, no marketing.
The teaching was never concentrated in the famous universities.

This is outrageous.
A 37-year-old high school physics teacher was arrested and dragged out of a city commission meeting in Kansas for 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 in support of opposing a new data center.
In the video you can hear one of the city commissioners call on the man to be arrested.

This is not only a violation of the first amendment, but it exposes that there really is no democracy in this country. That if people go through the “approved channels” to make their voice heard they will still be arrested.

This is definitely abuse. HOWEVER the solution is to equip our airports with better and intuitive (non-wheel chair) transit support services in the airports.

It is estimated there are 80,000 homeless families in the US. If the US government spent 40 billion dollars (estimated cost of current war so far), that would be $500,000 per homeless family. A lot more than enough to erase homelessness.

Divorce attorney James Sexton said something that hit hard: our society distracts us from the fact that we’re all going to die, because if we really internalized it, we’d stop chasing a lot of the meaningless stuff that keeps the machine running.
After spending time in hospice, he realized the dying don’t talk about their stuff. They talk about the people they loved, the connections, the beautiful and painful moments. Everything else falls away.
There’s a finite number of times you’ll kiss your wife, hug your kids, or tell someone you love them. You don’t know the number, until it’s passed.
That finiteness is what makes it so precious.

He @AmericanExpress, @AskAmex , how unusual and rogue is it that your agents ask for Debit Card PIN during a chat? Couple weeks ago. Raised a complaint over phone and the agent (I felt) played it down, too. Then they said they would report. No background check while appointing?

Reported a $16 fraudulent debit card transaction to #ally bank. They reissued a new card and charged $15 for it. Upon calling they said I asked for an expedited card. Never asked for a new card itself in the first place. And 30 minutes on the line. 👌

#Dell should close down #dellrefurbished before it tarnishes the brand name. I got a laptop still tied to the previous owner and cannot reset. I searched online and see numerous other similar stories.

Enorme aprendizaje para cualquier empresa de software que dependa de herramientas de IA en procesos críticos. Nunca hay que poner todos los huevos en una canasta.
