French woman describes her burned out apartment:
“It was this dumpster that exploded and burned the shutter. Wait, I’ll show you.”
“Look, everything melted. Everything exploded, everything is…”
“And it burned the shutter. That one, it blew out the window. Over there, it burned too. It blew out the window.”
“Everything melted. Everything melted. There’s nothing left. Nothing is beyond recovery.” (Note: the French “Rien n’est irrécupérable” is a bit awkward in translation here; context and other sources indicate she means basically nothing is salvageable.)
“There was a photo of his father, I’m trying to find it, but I can’t. There’s nothing. All our photos were here. There’s nothing left over there. The ceiling, it’s collapsing.”
But hey, it's just kids protesting the government right?
Imagine you have a lovely apartment in Rue de la Republique in Paris.
Your apartment is on the 4th floor so you don’t think you are at risk from the rioters.
Yet they set fire to a huge bin and start throwing electric scooters into it. The explosion destroys half of your apartment.
