In Scotland it has been illegal to sell a glass of raw milk since 1983. The farmer may drink it. His children may drink it. The man at the gate may not buy it, and the dairy farmer who sells it to him has committed a crime. England kept a loophole: the farmer may sell it at the farm, and nowhere else. Not in a shop. Not to a café. It must carry a warning, and the inspector comes twice a year. In most of the United States it is a felony to carry it over a state line, and armed federal agents have raided Amish farms in Pennsylvania to seize it. This is milk as it comes from the cow. The food every mammal on earth starts life on, which fed this island for six thousand years before anybody boiled it. Pasteurisation was invented for the swill dairies of the Victorian cities, where cows stood in their own filth under distilleries and the milk killed children, and it was the right answer to that. The clean farm was never the problem. The clean farm got the same law. What raw milk carries that the heated kind does not is the point of it: the enzymes that digest it, the living cultures, the proteins that fold properly only until the temperature goes past them. The people who drink it will tell you that children who could not stomach the carton can drink the churn. The authorities will tell you that is anecdote and that the risk is unacceptable, and then license the sale of raw oysters, raw beef, raw fish and raw eggs without a word. A thousand farms in England sell it legally and their waiting lists are long. North of the border a woman can drive to a farm, look at the cow, and be refused a pint of what it made that morning. Nobody banned milk. They banned the kind with anything left in it.

This beautiful film is around 100 years old. It shows France’s elegant society in the 1920s, capturing the lively boulevards, cafés, and historic landmarks in lovely detail.

#Macron

Unlike the current Governor, our Mayor, our City Councilmembers, and Xavier...Steve Hilton is a real one, and he has showed up for me and the Palisades from day 1. He has earned our votes. All the dems I know in West LA are crossing party lines and voting for him.
Spencer Pratt just announced he’s running for LA mayor. I’m with him all the way ✊

Why are people crashing out about Black men voting Republican in the midterms? We are tax paying Americans who have ballot autonomy. My vote. My choice. 🔴 It’s happening at an increasing pace and there’s nothing Dems can do about it. You had your chance for 70 years.

x.com/antoinejumel81/status/…

No animal on this planet eats breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the only one told to is the one carrying 100,000 calories to the gym. A male emperor penguin goes 115 days without food, standing on ice at minus 40, with an egg on his feet. A grizzly bear goes six months without food, and gives birth halfway through. A bull elephant seal goes three months without food, on a beach, fighting, and mating, and winning. A sockeye salmon goes the whole river without food, from the day it tastes fresh water to a thousand miles upstream. A Burmese python goes a year without food and comes out of it capable of eating a deer. A wolf goes a fortnight without food, then eats twenty pounds in one sitting, then sleeps. A humpback whale goes four months without food and crosses an ocean on the fat it banked in Alaska. A camel goes a month without food and carries you across a desert while doing it. Not one of them is light-headed. Not one of them has lost its muscle. Not one of them had a flapjack to keep the blood sugar up. Every one of them runs on the same thing: fat, kept on the body, turned into fuel when the food stops, and a brain that switches to ketones the moment the stores run down. You have the same machinery. You have more of it than the penguin. You have been told it is dangerous to skip breakfast.

The Islamist revolution that seized Iran was organized from France in 1978, and after nearly 50 years of appeasing Islamism and the far left, the consequences have returned to France with a vengeance. France gave Ruhollah Khomeini sanctuary in Neauphle-le-Château, where he recorded revolutionary messages, coordinated with supporters and prepared his return to Iran. He then flew to Tehran aboard an Air France aircraft and established the Islamic Republic. France did not invent Islamism, but it gave Khomeini a protected platform at the decisive moment when he transformed revolutionary Islamism into state power. His regime then exported that ideology across the Middle East through terrorism, proxy armies, religious radicalization and perpetual war. Now Macron is blaming the Persian Gulf conflict for France’s riots instead of confronting his government’s failed migration and integration policies and the violence of the far left. After protests over fuel prices and living costs descended into rioting, looting and arson, Macron claimed that public anger originated in a conflict France did not start and is now being forced to suffer from. That explanation is politically convenient and historically blind. The Islamic Republic is not a passive victim of war. For decades, it has threatened shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, armed proxies that attack energy infrastructure and treated global oil supplies as leverage against its enemies. The regime helped create the instability now raising fuel prices. Macron reduces that record to a vague “conflict,” erasing the Islamic Republic’s responsibility for weaponizing the Persian Gulf and holding international commerce hostage. There is a grim poetic justice in France now suffering the consequences of the political forces it spent decades excusing. French governments repeatedly underestimated Islamism, failed to integrate large migrant communities and allowed parallel societies and ideological radicalization to deepen. At the same time, parts of the far left normalized political violence and formed opportunistic alliances with Islamist movements under the language of anti-imperialism and resistance. Expensive fuel may explain public anger, but it does not explain organized looting, arson or attacks on public property. A conflict in the Persian Gulf did not create France’s domestic fractures. It exposed them. Macron’s argument also carries an ugly implication for Iranians. If confronting the Islamic Republic raises European fuel prices, then Iranians are expected to remain trapped under a theocracy so Europeans can preserve cheap energy and political comfort. France once sheltered the man who helped place revolutionary Islamism at the centre of Middle Eastern politics. Almost 50 years later, the regime he founded is destabilizing energy markets abroad while the ideological forces France failed to confront are helping tear at the country from within. That is not simply historical irony. It is the bill for decades of denial finally coming due.

Just a few months ago, Islamic terrorists massacred an entire Christian community in Congo. Over 60 people slaughtered in an hour. Thousands of Christians are slaughtered in Congo and the world remains silent. Thousands more Christians are slaughtered in Nigeria, Ethiopia and other parts of North and Central Africa, and the media say nothing. The Pope continues to tell the world how Muslims are your friends and brothers while priests and community leaders cry over rivers of blood those “friends and brothers” leave in their path to wiping out non Muslims from existence. We’re living in dark times. Possibly the darkest in memory. Because it isn’t just that these atrocities are happening in such frequency, but that half the non Muslim world seems to defend those perpetrating the mass killings.
