Tomorrow I head off on my end of year vacation and I'm heading to Australia for the next 25 days - again. I lived there for 8 years. Not in the densely populated cities but very very rural in FNQ. I'm going back to MY beach (lol) and to my slew of friends. I'll be yapping at cows on the back of a horse, drinking a teeny bit of rum with the stockmen and friends, eating Australian beef, and dodging Huntsman Spiders.
Not looking forward to the plethora of snakes and spiders - that is for sure. But I wanted to say goodbye to one of the most beautiful countrysides I've ever seen. From the Atherton Tablelands, to the Waterfalls, the splendor and terror of the Rainforest, the Great Barrier Reef, to plains of grasses filled with Emus and Kangaroos and cattle. I will dance in Yarbarah with my Aboriginal friends and feast with them. And I will love every minute of it.
My posts may be sporadic and since I'll be in OZ, I supposed I'll have to behave online...and make sure not to cause offense to anyone. It wasn't like that before Covid. Now it is exactly like that. Worse. And every day new teeny freedoms are being excised from their normal everyday life so quickly and methodically they cannot do anything but continue to spiral.
I think most of the western world is in a spiral of identity, since we love identity politics so much. We should identify as what we are: Western nations with Western ideals.
This will probably be my last trip to Oz. I want to say goodbye to my Aussie people in person. I'm 63. With the rapid rate of decline I may not get another chance. Time is of the essence.
God Bless America. 🇺🇸
