K9 BART IS DEAD.
K9 Bart sat outside for 36 hours with no water while the man who was supposed to feed him wasn't even home.
Madison County, Tennessee. Bart, a German Shepherd just over 2 years old, worked patrol, criminal apprehension, tracking, article searches, and narcotics. Sheriff Julian Wiser says his own handler left him unattended outside for approximately 36 hours with zero access to water while the heat index sat at 101 degrees.
A university vet program in Mississippi confirmed it: heat stroke from severe dehydration. Preventable. Wiser used that word himself.
The handler got administrative leave, then resigned before anyone could fire him. Now an internal affairs investigation and a criminal investigation are both running, with findings headed to outside authorities.
Thirty six hours. This dog worked apprehension, tracking, narcotics, everything asked of him, and the one thing his handler owed him back was a bowl of water and thirty seconds to check on him. He didn't get either.
A resignation isn't accountability. Charge him.

LOOK AT LITTLE SHIVA.
Said to be just 6 years old, this tiny elephant is one of 5 baby elephants brought from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples. Shiva is now at the Thiruvannamalai temple.
But how old is Shiva really? His age, provenance, parentage, microchip, DNA and ownership records must be independently verified.
Durga: 3,000+ km in ~6 days to Madurai.
Shiva: 3,000+ km in ~9 days to Tamil Nadu.
These babies are being transported thousands of kilometres for temple confinement, raising serious concerns about welfare, provenance, ownership and legality.
The floodgates have opened, thanks to the role of traders, brokers and intermediaries, and the ownership, surrender and approval processes have been manipulated or misused.
And now, look at how little Shiva is being handled. Sticks and weapons are reportedly being used to intimidate him, while he is dragged by both ears.
This is the pinnacle of cruelty.
How can this be called “better upkeep” when the stated reason for gifting these babies to temples was that their so-called owners could no longer provide better care?
APPEAL TO THE HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER OF TAMIL NADU @CMOTamilnadu @actorvijay
Please intervene immediately. Ensure independent due diligence into all five elephants and verify their age, DNA, microchip, parentage, provenance, ownership history, surrender records and money trail.
Please investigate who facilitated these transfers and stop any further movement of baby elephants into Tamil Nadu.
And most importantly, please explore every lawful possibility of returning these babies to Assam and reuniting them with their mothers and natural social groups.
They are babies. They belong with their families—not in temple confinement.
SAVE SHIVA. SAVE DURGA. SAVE THE OTHER BABIES.
REUNITE THEM WITH THEIR MOTHERS.

My view: Whately’s work mattered, but presenting it as a moral lesson for young people is deeply disingenuous.
She was the daughter of two doctors, privately educated and Oxford-educated: a young person with a considerable safety net and exceptional access to opportunity.
Her experience of taking temporary jobs cannot be used to accuse today’s young people, facing scarce entry-level vacancies, insecure hours, unaffordable rents, ill health and far fewer routes into Europe, of laziness.
Anecdotes from a privileged starting point are no substitute for a serious plan to create decent opportunities.

They’re thugs. Masked men, lots with prior convictions for a string of crimes, many against women, intimidating people, attacking emergency workers and abusing people.
These masked thugs need watching, which is why there is such a large police presence.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT - Yesterday, I made a serious mistake while trying to register the domain name helpdanny.org, and instead of directing all web traffic from it towards an appeal to help the recently arrested Danny Tommo, all visitors were sent to my RNLI appeal for The Flying Farage instead and it’s jumped up to £397,173.
Upon realising my mistake, I tried to log back into the control panel provided by the domain name company, but I couldn’t find the piece of paper that I wrote the password on.
Upon further investigation, I learned that my eight-year-old had turned it into a paper plane and it had flown out of the back door and into the garden, where a waiting badger picked it up and then ran off to use it as bedding in his sett.
They can be quite vicious apparently so I didn’t want to try and get it back in case it scratched me, and so I’ve been trying to guess the password.
I’m pretty certain that it’s 26 random characters long but with the word ‘frenulum’ in the middle, but until I’ve figured it out the domain name will have to take people to my RNLI appeal instead.
Thanks for your understanding in this matter.
