Mehdi, the 240,000 Jews who reached British Mandate Palestine between 1932 and 1939 had no army and no state, and they drove no one from their homes. They legally purchased land, much of it swamp and sand dune, often from absentee Arab landlords, and the Arab population roughly doubled under the Mandate. By 1947, Jews privately owned between 7% and 10% of the land west of the Jordan River, and Arabs privately owned roughly 12% to 15%. Most of the rest was state land the British had inherited control of from the Ottomans. The 1947 partition plan proposed two states for two peoples on that remaining quarter of the original British Mandate, after Britain had already carved out the other three quarters to create Transjordan, an Arab kingdom it invented. Private land deeds had nothing to do with it. The violence in the region originated with the Arab leadership. In 1920, Haj Amin al-Husseini helped whip up the Nebi Musa riots in Jerusalem. In 1929 he and his circle spread the lie that Jews were plotting to seize or destroy al-Aqsa, and the pogroms that followed murdered 67 Jews in Hebron and 18 in Safed. In 1936 the same leadership launched a revolt, murdered more Jews, and pushed Britain into the 1939 White Paper, which capped Jewish immigration at 75,000 over five years while Hitler was closing in on European Jewry. After helping stoke the 1941 Farhud pogrom in Baghdad, which killed nearly 180 Jews, the Mufti spent the rest of the war in Berlin lobbying for a Middle East emptied of Jews. The crimes you list did happen, but the Jews were the victims. After 1948, roughly 850,000 Jews were driven out of Arab countries and their property was seized, and Jordan expelled the Jews of Jerusalem's Old City that same year. None of this is obscure, and you know it. Calling it “pure dumbness” would let you off too easily. In your case it's pure mendacity.

Andy Burnham gives hope to the millionaires like Corbyn, Brown, Blair, Clapton, Judy Dench, Elton John by giving them a state pension, but keeps the poorest from receiving a state pension that it below the minimum wage. How progressive!
Hope again.

I suspect Andy Burnham's Dad would not want to see the state pension rules changed so that some of the poorest people in the UK, with no means to work, would be penalised. Rather than progressively means test it, he is stopping it rise as it had been planned.
I will build the Britain my dad wanted to see.

Yep Macklemore was (checks notes) cancelled from singing in a stadium. So the righteous (checks notes) cancel Sheeran from singing on Irish radio. This all makes total sense.
Throughout history, artists have long helped change the narrative by speaking out. Macklemore only said “Free Palestine.” No powerful billionaire-funded lobby should ever get to decide what can be said, or who pays the price for saying it. news.sky.com/story/support-a…

MacNamara (yes an ex-Cambridge Humanities graduate) explains to the BBC how UK is 'world-leading in some of the thinking' in AI. Some of science maybe, but it's business isn't. It's probably world-leading in the delusions of grandeur of its political classes though. #BBCLauraK

Yes. Because Europe has been a just a simple backwater of science, discovery, culture, and intellectual achievement for the last 1000 years. everyone knows it does not have the wit or abilities to accomplish anything if it didn't completely rely on Africa and the Middle East.
*BRILLIANT* The French made a short film about what could happen after all immigrants would follow the ‘_white, angry old man’s_’ advice to go back where they came from.*

JK makes my day.
I see that Stella Creasy is accusing me of leading a pitchfork mob against her, because I opined that she is less likeable and more hypocritical than the wild parakeet she mistook for an escaped pet. For those who don’t know, Creasy is an elected politician and self-proclaimed ‘old-fashioned feminist’ who is ‘still fighting the patriarchy’. She’s more than once publicly defined herself against me (and my reaction was not to accuse her of leading a mob, even though I was probably averaging a dozen death threats a day at the point when the article below appeared.) I thought it might be instructive for those of us who don’t share Creasy’s brand of ‘feminism’ to examine her campaigning record, so we can learn to do better. Creasy wants women admitted to the male-only, exclusive, London-based private members Garrick Club, a change that would benefit rather privileged women like Creasy. Creasy is a mother who wants better accommodations for working mothers, a change that would benefit Creasy. Creasy takes selfies at a men-only Muslim march because that reminds everyone how non-racist she is, which benefits Creasy. Creasy asserts that ‘trans women are women’, which keeps her in good odour with her party’s most aggressive activists, and benefits Creasy. However, keeping cross-dressing heterosexual men out of nurses’ changing rooms doesn’t benefit Creasy, because Creasy has never had to mop up other people’s piss, blood and vomit at work. Challenging the notion that a male basketball player becomes a girl if he says he is doesn’t benefit Creasy, who has no sporting ambitions. Speaking up against the patriarchy as practised by non-white men doesn’t benefit Creasy, who wants those selfie-opportunities. Criticising an ideological movement that persecutes, harasses and openly threatens women who don’t believe some women have penises wouldn't benefit Creasy, because she's already fully-signed up to self-id, where any man who says he's a woman must be taken at his word. As the late Gloria Steinem said: ‘“Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere.’ Creasy the patriarchy-challenger is provably more than happy to cosy up to men and misogynist movements when it suits her public profile and career advancement, no matter the harms those men might be causing less privileged women. By Steinem’s definition, what Stella espouses is not feminism, but Creasyism, and I suggest the emblem for this brave new rights movement should be an indignant parakeet with severely ruffled feathers. telegraph.co.uk/women/life/s…

SYRIA: A group of young Muslims entered the Christian town of Al-Suqaylabiyah in Hama and tried to rape Christian girls. Brave Christian men fought them and kicked them out. They later returned with a government-backed mob, looted homes and properties, opened fire, and arrested several Christian men who they plan to execute. This is daily life for Christians living under Islamic rule.

I'm gonna start small. I'd like all who read this to agree to a no killing day. Let's choose a day, once a year, to promote no killing anyone that day. Any war must pause. Any potential murder. Any armed robbers. Just one day. And if it can be done, then try expanding it?
