Powerful speech by Amit Halevi, a member of the Israeli Parliament, regarding the Kurds in Syria. It has made me cry because it was like a soothing balm on the broken hearts of the Kurds, who have been abandoned by the world

📌A massacre is being carried out by the butcher of Idlib, the neo‑Nazi Al‑Julani, against the Kurdish community. How can the Jewish state remain silent?
📌The Israeli parliament, the Jewish state, must raise its voice today. It has a responsibility to act morally and strategically because the consequences of silence will not remain confined to others.
📌All these attacks are organized under the patronage of Erdogan, a radical Islamist sponsor. Erdogan has a detailed and strategic plan to expand his influence across the Middle East.
📌Jolani’s agreements with the Kurds are just a temporary tactic. Kurds have been killed, women insulted and abused. And it is not only the Kurds — they have already done the same to the Druze and the Alawites. The Jewish state cannot be silent. We have to act today, right now.
Here is the full speech.
I requested this urgent proposal because of what is happening in Syria.
A massacre is being carried out by the butcher of Idlib, the neo-Nazi Al‑Julani, against the Kurdish community over the past two weeks. All of this is taking place under the patronage of his radical Islamist sponsor, Erdogan. And it must be said clearly—and repeated again and again—Erdogan has a detailed and strategic plan to expand his influence across the Middle East.
He has a religious objective. All intelligence agencies are aware of this. He is trying to impose a rigid, authoritarian religious worldview on the region—the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood.
There is another critical reason why our parliament—the parliament of the Jewish state—must raise its voice today. This ethnic cleansing of minorities in the Middle East is happening under the deafening silence of Western governments, a silence that echoes the silence of the 1940s in the face of Hitler’s plans and their implementation. The comparison is chilling—but accurate.
This is not a war. This is not about soldiers, territory, or resources. This is about civilians—women, children, and entire communities—whose only “crime” is their ethnic or religious identity.
Kurds are being killed, their homes and fields burned, their women assaulted and enslaved. This is happening not only to the Kurds, but also to the Druze, the Alawites, and the Christians.
The method is well known. Agreements are made as a tactic—deception and manipulation. A ceasefire is declared in one area while violence escalates in another. This is what happened with the Kurds and the Alawites. Negotiations were opened in international forums, promises of calm were made, and at the same time mass killings took place.
After that, the focus returned to the Kurds. With what appeared to be quiet international approval, the attacks resumed.
Every such campaign follows three stages:
First, a sudden wave of extreme violence—mass killings, executions, and widespread brutality.
Second, the consolidation of control—appointing loyal authorities, tightening security, and seizing resources and territory.
Third, long-term repression—daily control, discrimination, and systematic oppression.
This is the current reality for the Kurds in Syria. It is also the reality for Druze communities in southern Syria, in the Jabal al‑Druze region. What happened in other areas is happening there today.
These are grave atrocities—and the world remains silent.
That is why I raised this issue today for two reasons.
First, we must not remain silent. The Jewish state must not stay silent in the face of ethnic cleansing.
Second, there is also a matter of national responsibility. After the Kurds, the Alawites, the Druze, and the Christians, other minorities could be targeted next. Supporting vulnerable minorities in the region was once a strategic principle, and it must be restored—both for humanitarian reasons and for long‑term security.
We have a responsibility to act—morally and strategically—because the consequences of silence will not remain confined to others.
