The crashes in central park between cyclists/ebikes and pedestrians, as well as the pedicab mayhem isn't an accident - it's by design. This is a decision that was made by the park and the DOT to turn this once beautiful, peaceful space into a highway.

It became very clear at the hearing at City Council on e-bike and street safety as led by Councilman Shaun Abreu that this city has a bias against its own citizens. A record-breaking crowd attended this hearing many of them having been severely injured by e-bike riders and they did not have an opportunity to speak til more than 4 hours into the hearing. Many simply had to leave and never spoke. Many still suffering from those injuries and advanced in age. This was of no concern to Abreu who while questioning numerous delivery workers had exactly zero questions for the victims! I would like to remind this council and Mr. Abreu that it is those citizens who pay your salaries and vote you into or out of office. But even more where is the compassion and concern for those victims who now live with paralysis, brain damage, vision problems and continue to require treatment and physical therapy. I saw no concern at all for the victims. I can think of many reasons why. One might be the outsized cash council members receive from Transportation Alternative’s lobby. And the delivery apps, Citibike, Uber and more. In fact Shaun Abreu received over $250,000 from Uber at election time. Maybe that’s why his questions were only addressed to the delivery workers and their representatives. This is almost unimaginable. It is a betrayal of the public good. And a black mark on this city which will never be erased.
