Yes I've had to mentally accept the indie VR route will be very tough. I think the better road now is flat with added VR support due to the mod dynamic fully disrupting.

Someone is working on a browser-based, fully MMO version of "Ultima 7," aided by OpenAI's Astra model

I've seen zero proof that mainstream audiences take XREAL-style "AR" glasses seriously or use them past the first ~week of novelty. Meta is starting to put actual VR headsets into a similar category. Will Meta VR Glasses produce a better outcome than XREAL glasses? I really don't think so.

From a photo @Borman18 posted years ago of the System Shock 1 editor, they seem very similar

This is likely the only published photo of the level editor used to make Ultima Underworld I & II - this was fancy as hell for 1992

Gamers want to go into their favorite AAA games... not to play VR for the medium itself. The VR mod wave taking off simply underlines this clear truth.
Personal thoughts, For the time being, "I couldn't care less" about all these VR mods from "flat games". There are still plenty of studios whose games deserve our attention—rather than handing our money (assuming you don't pirate) to companies that never cared about VR in the first place, just because some guy managed to make a game VR-compatible using AI. Modding "flat games" for VR is cool, but for me, it shouldn't come at the expense of the studios that persist in this field we love so much. I’ll only really take an interest in them "the day native #VR is truly dead". #Quest3.

Today I'm releasing my first game for the Vision Pro. It's called 1-Bit Gambit, and it's a throwback to early 90's chess games. It's FREE - there is a paid option that unlocks more challenging CPU and transformer-inspired pieces. Multiplayer coming soon. apps.apple.com/us/app/1-bit-…

Wow, a 12% increase in battery such a short time after launch! I wonder who could be responsible for that? And there’s probably much more to come too!
Steam Frame OS Beta claims to improve both power efficiency and battery life by up to 12% They also added eye tracking accessibility options And improved Steam VR overlay interactions
