My dad flew in Vietnam. He came home. He flew Spectre Gunships. “Bad Moon Rising” was his favorite when he came home. And, “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” They became my favorites too.

The Shark gun platoon made it thru 68-69 with the Beatles White Album. We were particularly fond of “Rocky Raccoon.”🦝🦈🚁 Personally, the mournful “Early Morning Rain” is the song I most associate with my tour. youtu.be/0OCnHNk2Hac?is=jZMA…

My dad was a pow in Vietnam for 18 months. After he came home (I was 6 years old) the 2 songs I remember vividly him singing along to the radio were "The Green Beret" and "Itsy Bitsy Yellow Polka Dot Bikini ". These songs fill my soul when I hear them today. I loved him so much.

My father and uncle were both in Vietnam. Both fought on the ground. My father was USMC and had a radio on his back. My uncle was drafted into the Army out of high school and he was a medic. Both came home.

My dad always liked "Detroit City." The refrain, "I wanna go home," was sung by a lot of Marines, from what I gather.

For What It’s Worth. Watched Buffalo Springfield perform it on The Smothers Brothers as a little kid, same night as my dad had said something disturbing (don’t remember what) while watching footage from a fire fight in Vietnam on the evening news. Stuck with me. And I love that song.
