Smith and Poilievre, arguably, have the most toxic political brands in Canada. Hard for any politician to shake that off once it sticks. It will be interesting to see if they recover.

This recent federal polling is brutal. For the life of me I just don't understand why the @CPC_HQ won't cut Poilievre loose & use the next few years to rebuild from their Maple MAGA debacle.

Big shifts! More than half of UCP voters favour separatism and a MAGA-style agenda for Alberta. But, Danielle Smith’s efforts to appease this group are backfiring as Albertans outside of the UCP’s MAGA bubble have started to shift their support towards the NDP.

I’ve lived in Alberta most of my adult life - since the days of Peter Lougheed. I can say without hesitation Danielle Smith is the worst premier I’ve ever seen. Incompetent and malignant.

On Monday, October 19, 2026 you have the opportunity to express your loyalty to Canada and simultaneousl tell the UCP that Albertans are not interested in their cynical MAGA-style politics of division. Ignore the polls and get out and vote. We can do so much better in Alberta.

Well Alberta, I hate to be a Debbie Downer... but somebody has to call this spade- a spade. We ban so many things on election day (and near polling stations)... and we all agree this is a solid principle of democracy... and it's enforced to the point of not allowing overt party-colours in polling stations. We do this to give voters a VITAL period of reflection before they vote. We have ~3 million people on the voter's list and 610,000 mail-in ballots, so far. At least 20% of the eligible voters in this referendum will vote by mail. This could be a much higher percentage of voters that turnout (turnout won't be 100%). Might be 30-40% of all votes cast. Now riddle me this, Swaying people on election day is so heavily forbidden (under penalty of law), because a period of reflection is so important... ...and these mail-in voters are essentially having an "election day" at the mailbox while campaigns are fully in their face... ...then what the hell are we talking about, here? For 20% of the population, no reflection was needed. I get needing a mail-in ballot if you’re disabled or stuck in another country and can’t get to a polling station. 40% of the province is not in Afghanistan. I'm sorry, we've failed: The reality is this isn’t even the real question. It’s a watered-down stand-in: vote now so we can maybe ask another question later- and even if this passes, the wording of that next question isn’t guaranteed. The mandate from this result is already piss-poor because it breaks the election-day rules everyone claims to agree on. As-is, this seems to violate Clarity Act rules where the voters have been influenced due to being allowed to experience fresh campaign materials at the moment of voting. Any majority then, cannot be a clear majority: they were influenced. Just what the hell are we doing, here? This is expensive and the future of this province is at stake! Anyone? Can anyone speak to this? Anyone?

Jason, you’re right. At some point, we need to stop pretending this is harmless anger at Ottawa. When Alberta separatism keeps putting antisemitism, racism and homophobia in the window, we need to take their word for it. And conservatives need to stop making excuses for it.

Remember when Danielle Smtih’s chief of staff said Janet Brown was the only Alberta pollster worth following. “She is the best in the business.” Well, she’s back. Calgary: NDP 46%, UCP 38%. Five months ago, the UCP led Calgary by 11 points. Now the NDP leads by 8. Suddenly the UCP’s push to carve Calgary into urban-rural hybrid ridings make a whole lot more sense. Don’t let the polls fool you… It will all come down to turnout. Let’s make a statement that we aren’t going to be distracted & divided…. Our Alberta will always be part of the true North strong & free!

This polling is encouraging, but is it critical that we all get out and vote in support for Canada. Time to send a message to the UCP, in particular the separatists in the party leadership, that we reject their politics of division.

A new poll from respected pollster Janet Brown shows support for separatism is falling. That’s good news. But we can’t be complacent. Let’s seal the deal by ALL voting in the referendum. Vote to remain in Canada and vote NO to Smith’s nine other MAGA-style rage-bait questions!

Smith suggested we not be "angry" when we vote in the referendum. She seems to have no idea about how angry Albertans are with the damage and cost incurred by her referendum to appease the separatists in her party. Read the room Premier.

The referendum ballot doesn't say "send a message" or "get leverage." Option 2 asks about starting a binding vote to separate. That's not a negotiating tactic. If this is just a bluff, why would Ottawa care? Albertans deserve better than political games from the UCP.
