A couple of weeks ago I toured @boomsupersonic with @bscholl and got to see their first engine core in person. It’s great to see this being built even if the supersonic airliner is still a thing of the future. youtu.be/vPOUfcpOSDg?is=vGck…

My understanding is that we board aircraft through the galley because the FAA requires a flight attendant to be seated at the door for takeoff and landing.

Yeah, so they can intercept the action hero entering the plane through the kitchen.

Awesome stuff in this! Scott, you need to get a camera guy. If the expense make sense. But would improve video quality. And allow you to be more on camera and focus even better on the tech and interview.

I had a camera guy, my son, he twisted his ankle the day before.

Concorde managed half of it. The Olympus used reheat for take-off and to push from Mach 0.95 to 1.7, then ran dry all the way to Mach 2.02. Symphony carrying no afterburner at all is the bit I would most like to see on a test stand.

Very good video. I was a bit surprised at the level of detail they showed you, maybe more than they should have. The move to use the engine for power generation as a business plan stepping-stone is, I think, a good one.

Blake is building a smaller engine to help run data centers as well as the full scale engine to put on the aircraft.

One hell of a story there. Involves the horrible condition of US manufacturing capabilities. Also exposes how useless NASA has become.

Going from a plane building business into an engine building business? Sounds like a death spiral to me. Aviation/aerospace business is literally litter with planes that died waiting for an engine that will fit them.

Step 1 build a running prototype to silence those who said it can't be done. As with the test aircraft then the world learns. Perhaps Elons alleged blade foundry could cast the turbine blades as it's first job. There are to few engine manufacturers in existence. Step 2 improve

such a low-key title for awesome vid Scott and genius idea Blake to use the current gas turbine shortage / long lead times as a de-risking strategy and getting valuable engine hours data. Would it still have made biz sense to do gas generator if there weren't the supply issues?

Building is easy, it's the certification that's hard. Additionally, proving long term reliability is going to be difficult.

I designed high-contrast 3D orbital thumbnail concepts for your recent uploads to stop mobile scrolling and test browse CTR. Sent the full 4K assets to your email, or feel free to DM me here if you'd like to run a test

Of course, it will depend on who you’re with and where you’re at, but might also suggest a ‘coverage’ camera on a mini pod (new GoPro or basic SLR) so you can edit back-and-forth to an occasional two shot when stability becomes an issue. Also provides backup footage & audio.

That was excellent. Love to see these behind the scenes tours.
