Yes, this is your Utah House Speaker
@mschultz_12 taking to social media today to do a promotional video for a developer of a 15-minute city in Draper.
Yet he can't take time to respond to the dozens of emails voters in the Wasatch Back have sent expressing our real concerns about SB258, the bill he supports that strips our local elected officials of authority and gives them to developers who in many cases are also major Republican donors.
For those curious here are the bills that made this possible and gave him an opportunity to put on that used car salesman sports jacket for the photo-op:
- HB372 (the SB258 equivalent for this project giving it Governmental authority)
- HB438 $57M appropriation
- SB2 added $100M of a tax payer subsidized loan to make it $165M total for this project
- SB289 removed all potential for local zoning to have an input from neighbors or the county
- SB198 created the ability for the development authority to capture sales taxes that would otherwise go to the state and defray your tax burden
- SB166 gives tax breaks to businesses on the land
- PIDS to the tune of $244M and of course tax increment to make sure property taxes helped developers "make the numbers pencil"
- HB42, HB3, HB530 taking state money and giving it to private equity mangers who will be located in the building he's ground-breaking (yes you read that right, you're funding a new VC fund)
- $100 to $150M for this convergence point structure (in the 15-minute city itself)
Total white glove treatment for the developers to all get rich or "make the numbers pencil" as they would gaslight you into thinking.
It's so brazen, so ridiculous and he's making it clear who he represents and it's not you.
My message to
@mschultz_12 is that my line is always open if you want to start a dialogue about how to help the hundred thousand people in the Wasatch Back, especially with regards to SB258 that is crushing us.
Republican socialism is so ridiculous.
