I’ve watched people walk out of the UN all week and I keep thinking the same thing: then what the hell is the point of the United Nations?
You don’t have to agree. You don’t have to like what’s being said. But if countries can’t even sit in the same damn room and listen to each other, what exactly are we paying for?
I’m tired of watching our tax dollars disappear into institutions that seem increasingly incapable of doing the very thing they were created to do.
Wars everywhere. Countries refusing to listen to each other. Delegates walking out when they don’t like the speaker.
And we call this the UNITED Nations?
At some point you stop fixing something that clearly isn’t working.
Dismantle it. Keep whatever actually serves a purpose and build something better.
Because whatever the hell this is, it isn’t “united.”

So Why Do We Vote?
This is where people start asking a very simple question: If our elected officials aren’t listening, and the courts can prevent voters from deciding an issue, what exactly is our vote supposed to accomplish?
In Vancouver, Save Vancouver Streets reportedly collected more than 6,500 signatures seeking a public vote on whether existing vehicle lanes should be removed. Instead of letting voters decide, the initiative was blocked from going to the ballot, leading to a court fight that remains unresolved.
Meanwhile, the city continues pursuing its Transportation System Plan, Complete Streets projects and policies that shift transportation priorities toward walking, bicycling, transit and other modes. The city says the plan was developed through extensive public engagement and is intended to provide transportation choices.
That’s the bigger issue.
You can disagree with the policy. You can support the policy. But shouldn’t the people have a meaningful voice in major changes to the roads they pay for?
We hear a lot about government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
But when citizens collect thousands of signatures and still don’t get a vote, it’s fair to ask:
Are we still being represented—or are we simply being governed?
And if the answer is the latter, perhaps “taxation without representation” isn’t as ancient a concept as we like to think.

Incredibly, it gets even more tragic. An 8-year-old boy who tried to help the girl was, of course, shot dead.

Watching this is why.
A reporter pulls public checkbook numbers on daycare payments.
The union emails Olympia and calls it a racist attack.
Then says they have “no idea” where the figures came from.
They’re in the state’s own books.
Knocking on a door isn’t harassment.
Hiding from the spreadsheet is.
I’m not going to be intimidated by the @SEIU.
Knocking on doors and nicely asking if they are daycares is not “harassment of immigrants.”
Is the employee who wrote this email really that dense? “She claims that providers are bringing in tens of thousands a month in public dollars, and honestly have no idea what publicly available data she could be basing this on.”
You have “no idea” how I found that information? Well, it’s publicly available data in the state’s open checkbook. You can find it here: fiscal.wa.gov

The 25 year old's name was Lance Sotelo.
Lance grew up in Dalton, Georgia, and was a cross-country MVP in high school.
He came to Queens University of Charlotte NC and ran cross country and track and field for SIX YEARS.
On January 14th, Lance was doing the thing he loved most, he was out for a run in Charlotte NC
At 5:47 in the evening, police say 28-year-old Q'Laundra Hood was ran a red light and she hit him, hard.
...and then she drove away.
She left him in the road and kept going.
Lance Sotelo died right there on the streets of Charlotte.
He never even made it to a hospital.
He didn't have life insurance, his family had to start a GoFundMe just to bury their son.
Hood turned herself in and pleaded guilty to felony hit-and-run and involuntary manslaughter.
And on Tuesday, a courtroom packed with Lance's family and friends watched the judge hand down the sentence.
30 days in jail and probation.
Thirty days and $765 restitution... which didn't even cover the funeral costs, by the way.
The family had to start a GO FUND ME just to pay for his funeral.

He murdered a woman. Chopped her up. Boiled her body parts. Served them as soup to the “unhoused.”
And she still calls that justice.

Remember when everything was great?
The desk was covered in melted ice cream. Uncle Sniffy was asleep in the chair. The Autopen sat in Barry’s hand. Hillary was smiling like she’d just found the last working pen in the building. And down at the bottom of the frame, some poor bastard, Hunter, had his face planted in the powder like it was still 2021 and nobody had noticed yet.
That’s the cover they should have printed.
They called it the most transparent administration in history while the signature machine did the heavy lifting. They called it steady leadership while the man in the chair needed a nap between sentences. They called it a return to normalcy while the ice cream melted and the documents kept getting signed anyway.
The joke writes itself because the scene was never subtle. Everyone saw the Z’s. Everyone saw the handlers. Everyone saw the same three people hovering over the same desk for four years acting like this was how the job had always been done.
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. It lets people look at a sleeping president, an Autopen, a melted pint, and a pile of unsigned papers and still say, with a straight face, “Those were the good old days.”
They weren’t.
They were just the days we were told not to notice.
