Praise my ancestors 🥹 #TsarSamuil 🦁👑 coming home 🇧🇬🕊️🍀🌹
Tsar Samuil rebuilt a Bulgarian state when the empire seemed lost. From Ohrid he held lands from the Danube to the Adriatic and restored the Bulgarian Patriarchate. A ruler who refused to surrender the idea of Bulgaria.

…his words are making me emotionally distressed too. He sounds worse than a confidently hallucinating LLM.
David Friedberg: Obama Doesn’t Understand AI and He’s Making Prosperity Political President Obama last week: “If we are thinking about AI just in terms of how do we cure cancer or get better energy, you can do that without having agentic AI. That's a misalignment between what our society needs and the commercial imperatives that these companies are facing.” @friedberg: “These words honestly just, they made me, like, emotionally distressed that if he's a leader that people listen to and he doesn't really articulate accurately what's going on, it's sad that we've lost the plot. I think it's sad that we aren't all kind of holding hands saying, ‘My God, the future is here, and we all get to leap forward, and we get to bring people up.’ For years, Obama orated beautifully about the importance of bringing people up, about giving people the opportunity to progress, about letting people advance themselves. And there's never been a more equalizing technology, a better economic opportunity for prosperity for everyone than these technologies, than these tools. And to hand wave the word agentic and say we don't need agentic AI to solve cancer shows how little he actually understands how this technology works and how it's all become just a shorthand for a political fight to what? What are you fighting for? What is the political battle that says, ‘I am going to leave half the population behind, and I'm going to make an argument against prosperity for all, in order to make my party look like a morally superior party, and to cast the other side as bad when the other side has literally discovered fire and the world now has fire, and we're going to go take water and throw it on the fire.’ No one gets fire because the other guys are saying that fire is good.”

Her comments are not random. This is part of a well funded and carefully organized campaign to demonize open models and our civil liberties in DC. Multiple Senate staffers have told me that outside groups are requesting meetings to provide “demonstrations” where open source models are used to attack simulated hospital websites and demand bitcoin as ransom. These are cheap scare tactics funded by groups seeking to control open systems. In reality, cyber defenders rely on open models daily to find critical vulnerabilities before attackers get there first. If these groups are successful, we will all be poorer, less free, and more vulnerable to adversaries with increasingly capable systems.

Told you so. They want to ban free and open source LLMs because this is all about a corporate bailout and control of the market. This is a SCRIPT. And if you fall for it, you're just a useful idiot.
We're used to thinking of open-source models as an unadulterated good. But in the case of AI, they can actually pose additional dangers, as @ReidHoffman and I got into at #CGI2026. I appreciated this nuanced discussion.

I actually agree with this If AI falls into the wrong hands — i.e. only a handful of governments and corporations — it would be tyranny on steroids and could absolutely be used to kill a billion people That is one reason it is essential we keep superintelligence open for all
AI is powerful enough to kill a billion people if it falls into the wrong hands, Bill Gates has warned, as the Microsoft co-founder urged tougher government regulation of the technology. ft.trib.al/apO3uEU

Never forget the time Julian Assange, international fugitive on the run from the Feds, randomly turned up at a Reykjavík nightclub in Iceland & proceeded to torch the dance floor. Lithe as a lynx, gettin’ low & swangin’ them hips…

Opensource AI Must Win If intelligence becomes something people can only rent from a few closed institutions, the public does not just lose software freedom. It loses operational freedom. The ability to study, build, repair, deploy, audit, adapt, teach, preserve, and run intelligence systems without asking permission is of existential importance. AI is a civilizational infrastructure for work, education, science, software, creativity, public services, and national capacity. Access must not depend on closed APIs, remote platforms, shifting terms, opaque moderation, model availability, or prices set by a handful of companies. Opensource AI should remain usable, understandable, reproducible, locally deployable, economically viable, and community-governed even if today's dominant labs, foreign labs, hardware vendors, cloud platforms, or open-weight model providers change direction or disappear. When a small number of closed frontier labs and platform companies control the models, this infrastructure risks becoming a subscription economy for cognition.

I so love the west coast... From La Push to Oceanside and San Diego, it's all so very special and beautiful to have explored!
High speed rail would make it the best coast in the world.
