This is a bad and stupid message to defense clients of the US.
❗️Marco Rubio stated that Starlink is a private company with its own contract and clear terms governing the use of the technology. The U.S. government (including Trump) cannot and has no right to dictate to a private company what decisions it makes, and never requested that any changes be made to the operation of this system.

Clearly rubbish from Rubio. The government can order the company to comply in a security matter.

This will be a growing trend globally now that the US President has offended and attacked so many former allies on trade, and chosen to openly support the Russians against Ukraine. US military hardware will no longer be trusted for future wars. Expect many more cancellations.
From Allies to Arm's Length: Why Canada's Black Hawk Deal is Now Heading for Cancellation - The Canadian government has quietly suspended its plan to buy 16 U.S.-made UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters for its special forces, and a total cancellation now seems imminent. Driven by escalating trade war tariffs and political bullying from the Trump administration, Ottawa is now shifting its focus toward domestic defence manufacturing and alternative international partnerships. And behind the scenes, American officials have been scrambling to salvage the deal, REPEATEDLY attempting to contact Canadian procurement leaders to push the contract through. However, Canada has essentially gone completely quiet, leaving Washington met with a wall of administrative radio silence. There is now a growing sense of desperation on the American side, as defense giants try feverishly too pressure Canada to sign. Yet, Ottawa refuses to budge. For decades, Canada viewed the U.S. as its most trusted continental ally. But now, many federal officials feel Washington has turned its back on that alliance through economic coercion and threats to Canadian sovereignty. Given this aggressive and almost demented behavior, Ottawa views America's expectation that Canada should blindly hand over billions of dollars as pure gall. Instead of capitulating, Canada is now actively evaluating OTHER aerospace options, including European alternatives like the Airbus H145M or Leonardo’s AW149, which can be outfitted with domestic supply chains. Because of Washington's heavy-handed tactics, the U.S. is highly likely to take a massive financial and diplomatic loss as Canada permanently walks away. 🇨🇦 #canpoli #cdnpoly #Canada #EU #MAGA #Republicans #Midterms

If the world fails to support Ukraine, the world will descend into chaos driven by a disunited and disloyal to history US. This is a turning point, the US wants off the bus because life is hard choices, and they can’t make those hard choices. But Ukraine must survive and thrive
When he is rejected and betrayed by those once called friends. When allies grow weary, politicians negotiate, and some are already poised to shake the hand of the executioner. When his life and the life of his country are daily targets for rockets, drones, bombs, and lies. I have no idea how this man has endured all this. And continues to endure it. He does not look like a movie hero. He looks like a man who hasn't slept in years. He has been cast aside. With eyes burning for the homes of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Odesa. With eyes that see all of Ukraine. He asks for no pity. He courageously asks for weapons. He does not flee. He stands his ground and bares his chest. When offered evacuation, he says: "I need ammunition, not a taxi." And this is not just a catchy phrase. It is a choice proven over years. Every day. Every night. Right now. He has been betrayed and continues to be betrayed. He has been underestimated and continues to be underestimated. He has been insulted and continues to be insulted. He has been put to the test and continues to be put to the test. And he stands tall. In the shadow of ruined cities. With weary soldiers. In the shadow of a world that is also weary—a world that wants to forget this war in Ukraine and think of something that causes no suffering or stress, something pleasant. Yet he reminds everyone. He speaks to people as if holding their hands. And there is something in that which brings a lump to one's throat. In all my life, I have never admired any public figure more than him. And I think, perhaps, I never will again. Because such admiration is not about politics. It is about a man who, when everything is falling apart, does not ask "Why me?" but—like a knight—does what must be done. I am certain he will stand firm, even if it costs him his life. Even if all his friends leave. Even if the whole world turns its back on him. He will not betray his principles. The entire world respects him—not because he is perfect, but because he is the strongest of them all, because he has raised the banner of the highest values: human dignity, freedom, and democracy. And all of Ukraine stands with him—weary and wounded, yet unbowed. Perhaps in the future, you will vote for someone else in the presidential election. That is your right. But today, let us respect him. We have a president who deserves respect and of whom we need not be ashamed. May he have strength and patience. Volodymyr Oleksandrovych deserves kind words and every form of support today. So let us give it to him—it is our duty!

Trump has never been on Ukraine’s side. He has always served Putin. May Ukraine fight on and win with the help of countries that value freedom and honesty. Ukraine did not start this war, nor did it start the US Trump war on Iran that has caused a global oil crisis.

CBC’s Marketplace has delivered another hack job on food inflation. In my view, it is one of the worst shows on television right now. This week’s segment featured two economists whose opinions fit the program’s narrative, without presenting the data, peer-reviewed research or modelling needed to substantiate their claims. Years ago, when I was pre-interviewed for the show, I felt they were fishing for one or two specific sound bites to convince Canadians that ALL businesses are greedy and utterly unethical. A balanced discussion did not seem to be the objective. This week’s coverage left me with the same impression. Expert commentary should be challenged and supported by evidence, especially on a taxpayer-funded program. Instead, CBC's Marketplace too often presents opinions as conclusions and leaves viewers with an incomplete understanding of complex issues. I no longer respond to their interview requests. Canadians deserve rigorous journalism, transparent evidence and a fair discussion. I find this kind of coverage disgusting.

Another way to think about Trump announcement today: If he increased US diesel imports from Canada by 4%, he would gain as much fuel as from this Russia deal. But the Canadians are global super-villains, so who wants to buy from them when you could enrich Putin instead?
