Management at KMPG’s Digital Asset Practice Founded Detroit Blockchain Collective @detblockchain

Detroit, MI
🎬 Take a look at how we closed out 2025 with our Detroit Blockchain Collective holiday party 🎉 As we ring in 2026, we're celebrating what has been an extraordinary year of impact for Detroit Blockchain Collective (@DetBlockchain) and for Michigan’s Web3 ecosystem as a whole. This holiday celebration was a fitting way to close the year. It was a moment of recognition for the community that has helped propel Web3 in Michigan to new heights. We were honored to welcome Lt. Governor @garlin Gilchrist II as our featured speaker, alongside @JustinOnwenu, Detroit’s Director of Entrepreneurship & Economic Opportunity. Their presence signaled something important: the work happening in this community matters, & it is being noticed at the highest levels. We’re grateful to @standwithcrypto for sponsoring our holiday party & helping make this community celebration possible. As the Michigan President of Stand With Crypto, I’m proud to support work that strengthens local communities while advancing the responsible digital-asset policy our state needs to thrive. What Detroit Blockchain Collective accomplished in 2025 was powered entirely by you: the founders, builders, students, advocates, sponsors, & community leaders who showed up, collaborated, & pushed this space forward together. The momentum & credibility we’ve built happened because of you. Throughout 2025, Detroit Blockchain Collective brought people together across backgrounds & experience levels. From hosting conversations with federal regulators shaping the future of digital assets, to spotlighting mission-driven organizations doing globally recognized work, to partnering with entrepreneurial hubs born right here in Detroit. We created space for education, connection, & opportunity, and in doing so, strengthened Michigan’s position in the broader digital-asset ecosystem. As proud as we are of what we’ve built, the work is far from finished. Ecosystem building is never “done.” It evolves, it expands, and it demands continued curiosity, integrity, & leadership. We enter 2026 energized, focused, & committed to deepening education, strengthening partnerships, supporting responsible policy, & creating even more pathways for people to participate in this space. Thank you for being part of this journey. Thank you for building with us. And thank you for helping make Detroit Blockchain Collective what it is today. Here’s to an even more impactful 2026! 🥂

I just lost it all. I got targeted by exceptionally sophisticated phishing and they got it all. All my Solana vests, everything. In shock right now. Please don't let this happen to you. NEVER type in your seed phrase online, be SUPER suspicious. Stay safe out there.

With our new proposal, the SEC is taking the most historic step yet to modernize federal securities regulations for crypto assets. As the Crypto Capital of the World, the U.S. must and will lead. Regulation Crypto Assets will ensure that we do. 🇺🇸

We have some difficult news to share. Unfortunately, one of our shipping providers has experienced a data breach that exposed sensitive order data. This affects new customers in the US, UK, Sweden, Colombia, Brazil, Italy, and Portugal who received an order within the 90 days prior to August 8th, 2026. The data exposed: - Full names - Shipping addresses - Phone numbers - Email addresses The incident affects 11,742 customers with full exposure (name, email, phone number, shipping address) and 1,947 customers with partial exposure (name, city, email). The breach is limited due to Trezor’s strict 90-day data storage policy (we were also able to negotiate the same terms with fulfillment partners, who follow the same policy). All affected customers have been contacted separately by email. Our systems and devices remain secure, but affected customers could experience an increase in phishing attempts. NEVER enter your wallet backup on a website or share it with anyone, and only check for updates on official Trezor channels. We are deeply sorry to the community and those affected. We are investigating this situation and will post updates on our blog: trezor.io/blog/news/recent-c…

Definitely the biggest shift I've seen this year is the broadened participation in tokenization. What was previously associated with crypto-native companies has become a strategic focus for institutions all across the financial system. Large asset managers, banks, custodians, broker-dealers, and market infrastructure providers are dedicating significant resources to it because they see opportunities to improve how assets are issued, transferred, and managed. For an industry known for moving very cautiously, the amount of momentum has been pretty remarkable.

🚨A reminder following our crypto security workshop last night! There’s an increase in phishing websites impersonating wallets & platforms you trust. These sites look legit. Entering your wallet backup would lead to you having your funds drained! Spread the word & stay safe! 🔐
ALERT: A phishing site is appearing as the top sponsored Google result for @Trezor, with the scam page already draining funds from unsuspecting users.

the attack on coldcard-generated addresses is ONGOING if you or anyone you know has BTC in single-sig self-custody addresses generated by Coldcard hardware wallet devices, move the coins NOW to an exchange account or a fresh self-custody address not generated on a coldcard!
🚨 A 3rd wave in what we suspect are hacks of Coldcard-generated addresses has been identified in which 207.7294 BTC has been drained. Our estimated observed size of the Coldcard hack is now 1,367.05 BTC (~$88.6m) across 4,585 addresses. More updates in the thread below 👇

🚨NEW: A group of pro-crypto Democrats say they’re unhappy not only with the Clarity Act’s ethics provisions as they currently stand, but also with several other areas of the bill, including its illicit finance and conflicts of interest provisions. The bill’s path to 60 votes remains challenging.

Ten years ago, a major bank offering Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana would have been unthinkable. Today it was a Thursday. This is one of those moments the industry will point back to. Morgan Stanley's E*TRADE just switched on spot crypto trading for clients, and it's a pretty big deal. For the first time, people can directly buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana on the platform, not just a fund that tracks their prices, and it now sits right alongside their stocks and retirement balances on a platform serving 8.6 million households. This is one of the largest wealth franchises in the world putting crypto directly into the hands of everyday investors. For years the industry argued about whether traditional finance would ever really commit to digital assets. Morgan Stanley just answered that for everyone. A firm sitting on trillions in client money wouldn't put Bitcoin a click away from your retirement account on a whim, this is something they did because they can see which way finance is going. And this launch didn't happen in isolation, look at the last twelve months alone: a spot Bitcoin ETF, stablecoin reserve services, retail spot trading, and now a national trust bank being built to bring custody in-house. A Wall Street giant is constructing an entire digital asset business, and moving fast enough that competitors now have to respond. Watch what happens after this. I still talk to plenty of people who are comfortable waiting to see how all of this shakes out. I understand the instinct, but the ground keeps shifting under that position. The trouble with waiting is that customers aren't waiting. The moment people can get crypto from a firm they already trust, the firms sitting it out are the ones losing ground. A good part of my work at KPMG lives in exactly that space: helping organizations engage with digital assets responsibly, with the controls and clarity to back it up. The questions have moved well past whether any of this is real. For a long time, crypto had to prove itself to institutions, but this is one of those moments that flips this. Now we are seeing that institutions are building their credibility around whether they can offer it. The burden of proof definitely moved. #DigitalAssets #Crypto #FinancialServices #KPMG
