Even stuff from the 1800s almost always has at least some aspects that are extremely "off" morally to our eyes.
Many of the great painters painted young teen girls nude or topless.
Respectable people went to animal fights, brutally thrashed their kids and other adults.
It’s a very weird feeling, if you grew up in a loving home with a kind father, to think that your deep ancestors probably wouldn’t/don’t like you very much and consider you morally wimpy even if you’re physically strong. That’s kind of sobering.
I love these people as my ancestors but I don’t think I’d actually be super comfortable in one of their tents as a son and they’d probably not like me very much. Of course we still have a duty to them and owe them worship, but much of even the domestic stuff would be a culture shock, at least for me.

Eyes are focused into the distance all day, no screens, you are ready to open a book in the evening.
Lots of time to think. Can't be automated since half the job is passenger control and discipline.
It’s really not hard for a philosopher to hold a steady job, just need to be humble enough to look outside of academia.
Our crew has two guys who studied philosophy at university and we are doing just fine. Embodied philosophy vs pontificating and ruminating.

It's interesting, there is a new wave of anti-office narrative among the younger zoomers, mostly on TikTok and the like.
X is dominated by seething over having been *denied* work as an office clerk, but this correlates to "out of touch" older zoomers and younger millennials.

If they smoke, they probably smoke normal cigarettes you can buy at the 7-11.
They do however buy much more expensive alcohol.
Every non-hamburger food suffers from what I call “The Hamburger Problem” - you have to weigh its nutritional and hedonic value against simply eating a hamburger.
Almost all foods are hamburger-negative.

Honestly should just go robot to robot with that stuff until humans realize the absurdity and outlaw PowerPoints and TPS reports altogether
More generally I’m ambivalent about AI but PowerPoint presentations being ‘solved’ absolutely represents an improvement in the human condition.

EU driving distances are often much further than one might think, due to the irregular shape.
For instance, Naples to Madrid is 1,300+ miles.
The driving distances aren't that much different from typical USA road trips.
This is how far you can get within 8 hours of driving from 6 European capitals. Europe is honestly a lot bigger than I thought.

This ideology is superficially divided into two "sides" who of course hate each other with the narcissism of small differences.
Similar to Serbs and Croats, from the outside both just look like indistinguishable "Balkans."
This is the problem with Zoomers having the lowest IQ on record. You are not getting that. You’re getting permanent Democratic Socialism, and you deserve it.
