The franchise must be protected. Will pick these up to read, Ed. They've been playing this game for 60 yrs. Our side (the unipards, at least) were happy to play the dutiful loser who took a whole lot of cash to keep their yappers shut. FFF!

It’s delusional on the staffers’ part to boot.
Democrats are plotting targets while too many Republicans are plotting climbing the ladder or profiting from a loss. House Republicans need to get serious about the problems they are having internally. Not ideal, but this quote (funny on its face) will live on.

But Mike's point is a good one, viz., GOP unipards have always made money on keeping their mouths firmly shut and just take the envelopes stuffed with captured and corrupt cash ... and keep it coming!

I was doing some research on Westlaw today and thinking back to my training in law school and a recent conversation with my youngest child, it struck me that just in the law I've seen an amazing change in technology. While I was in law school in the 90s, the Internet was largely new to most of us. There were some useful FTP sites. The occasional big website. But America Online was one of the most functional things, and that's gone the way of the dodo given where the Net has evolved to. You could not do any real legal research on the Internet. We had Westlaw and LEXIS by dial-up modem but those services were incredibly expensive if you weren't lucky enough to have a free law student account. But now that AI is on the field and it keeps getting better and better. I feel like a lot of my success as an associate in the nineties tied back to mastering Westlaw and being able to find doctrines and lines of authority few other lawyers could. So my advice to current law students and young lawyers is to master AI. It should serve you well. One cautionary note: Of course, be careful about the major or minor engines hallucinating cases and arguments. That still happens. But in my experience, the amount of hallucination is falling off.

Oh, I've worked with microfiche too! And, of course, books. And look, if you have to work with statutes or regulations, it's much more useful to have a book of the USC or the CFR.

I tossed about $50k worth of law books several years back -- they looked great, but none of them had any pocket parts in years! And after a few moves, it was time. As a bibliophile that hurt.

I use a few AI against each other ("iron sharpens iron") Re: legal research. Two stand out, Grok/Chat. Not in love with Claude. Gemini comes in dead last for this sort of work. Fever dreams are real. Nb -- I did use Westlaw AI & it was ok for cites, but will get better.

Dems, destroying America since before the Civil War, Jim Crow laws, separate but equal Plessy v Ferguson, Dred Scott case, 1964 Civil Rights Act, & CA becoming the state that told minors to travel w/out & against their parent's permission to CA for "sex-change" surgery.

When all of this is finally dealt with -- and it WILL be dealt with -- the nation will not be the same. We NEED justice. The reckoning is coming.
WOW: @EagleEdMartin just blew it wide open—2020 election fraud was never actually examined on the merits in court and Tina Peters just met with POTUS about election security. “The President’s taking it seriously…It’s not a local issue when it’s national security” 🔥

I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.

Repeal the 16th Amendment, Matt. They've been taking We The People's money for 100+ yrs. We started a revolution over 2% tea tax ... we work almost 1/2 the year to pay the govt. They waste almost ALL of these funds, giving their banker pals & acolytes TRILLIONS. Enough dude.

I wasn’t familiar with Rees-Mogg prior to this, but I was impressed. It was an hour-long masterclass in how to deal with a hostile interviewer. And he maintained his composure until the very end. His style was the perfect foil to Tucker’s approach.
All of Carlson’s disingenuous techniques are on display here. Half-truths, quotes of context, taking what the other person says and twisting it. Mehdi has a similar playbook. You have to be exceptionally good even to hold your own, and Rees Mogg owns him.

Tragic scenes in France. Israel condemns the violence from BOTH SIDES, and calls for immediately starting negotiations for a two-state solution in France, which is the only way to end the conflict.

With the news that Jim Bakker died, I have to say that his autobiography "I Was Wrong" was a surprisingly good read about his fall from grace and how he came to realize the prosperity Gospel he'd preached was false.
