🚨 Warning: A new hack is making the rounds, and I fell for it. Here’s how it works, how to prevent it, and how to stop it if it’s already happened to you. It starts with a DM from someone interested in collaborating (Picture 1 below)—maybe for an article, podcast, or business opportunity. They send a Calendly (or similar) link to schedule a call. After booking, you’re redirected to a permissions request page (Picture 2) that looks like it’s asking for access to your calendar. Thinking it’s harmless, you approve it. What really happened? You unknowingly granted permission for them to post on your behalf. That’s how they gain control—without knowing your password or bypassing your 2FA. Then they then post on your behalf push scam tokens. If this has already happened, here’s how to revoke their access immediately: ➡️ Go to: x.com/settings/apps_and_sess… ➡️ Under Connected Apps, find any apps you don’t recognize (Picture 3). ➡️ Click Revoke App Permissions—this instantly stops them from posting on your account (Picture 4). How to prevent this from happening: ✅ Calendly & other booking tools NEVER need permission to post on your behalf. If a request asks for this, it’s a red flag. ✅ Read the fine print before approving app permissions. Take an extra second to check what access you’re granting. ✅ Manually add events to your calendar instead of automatically linking third-party apps. This isn’t an isolated incident—it’s happening to others. Here’s another example: x.com/BikesandBitcoin/status… What I’ve learnt… even I fall for things. These scams are getting smarter. Stay vigilant, question every permission request, and share this to warn others before they fall for it. Stay safe.
