Ahhh 🩵🩵🩵
On this day in North Carolina history September 30, 1948. The Rams Head Rathskeller opened down in Amber Alley off Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. Folks just called it The Rat. Ted Danziger and his family opened it in the basement under the old candy shop. They were Austrian folks who came over here and started over in Chapel Hill. First place around there to pour draft beer. Pizza showed up a few years later and that was a big deal for this part of the country back then. The Daily Tar Heel ran an ad saying Andy Griffith was gonna wander around with his guitar welcoming people in. Think about that. Andy Griffith playing in a basement restaurant the night it opened. That place fed generations of UNC students. Lasagna they called the bowl of cheese. The Gambler steak. Waiters who stayed for decades. Initials carved in the wood. Dates. Cheap beer. Loud nights. It was not fancy and it was not supposed to be. The Rat closed in 2007. Building still sitting there under Franklin Street. Different things have come and gone in that space since. If you ever ate there you remember it. If you never did, you missed a Carolina institution. First picture is the alley entrance. Black and white picture is the view from Franklin St. Old World Gift Shop upstairs and The Rat downstairs.

42 DA seats are on the North Carolina ballot this year. Every prosecutorial district elects a district attorney in 2026. These offices decide what gets charged, dismissed, or pled out—and how seriously violent crime, theft, and repeat offending are treated. A constitutional conservative DA enforces the law as written, prioritizes public safety and victims, applies the law correctly, and does not use charging power to rewrite policy the legislature never passed. Democrats want more diversion and less incarceration. Either way, the office has real power. Look up your district. These races rarely get statewide attention, but they run the local criminal justice system.

Anyone in the area recognize him? #Charlotte
Two men walked into Sir Edmond Halley’s Pub in Charlotte, NC on Sept 17th at around 10pm and snatched a picture off the wall that meant everything to the owner. It’s him with his best friends. Not a trophy. Not a collectible. Just a piece of his life. They made a quick getaway. The pub is asking for any help identifying them. If you have any information, please contact the pub directly. Let’s help this business get the justice it deserves. #TheHopeFiles

Speaking as an elected official in North Carolina, the damage that @RoyCooperNC caused and created while governor of the state continues, years later, to be felt - and we continue to have to fix his mistakes - from the COVID lockdowns that went to hard and too long for no justifiable reason, the bad investment of taxpayer funds he made, to vetos of common sense and important legislation and his horrible records in Hurricane Helena response - support @WhatleyNC and common sense...
.@POTUS RIPS Democrat Governor Roy Cooper who VETOED a critical Hurricane Helene relief bill. "For the people of North Carolina, this election is about safety, and bad management...There has never been worse management of a storm or a hurricane, than Cooper in North Carolina."

North Carolina has two vastly different candidates to chose from to be their next U.S. senator. Michael Whatley explains his common sense priorities versus Roy Cooper's radical ones: “Roy Cooper’s going to fight for criminals, he’s going to fight for illegal aliens, he’s going to fight for men who want to play in girls’ sports ... I’m going to be fighting for safe borders, safe communities, safe kids.”
