"I don't know what the fuss is about. Zionism is of course racist. .... Zionists ... decided to establish their self-determination on the territory of another people. .... There's no way that the state of Israel could have been established without the expulsion of the people already living in the territory ... Why is this so difficult to understand?" The indomitable Ghada Karmi, driven from Jerusalem as a child, cuts through the crap at this morning's Greens4Palestine press conference. /1

I can’t think of any other place in the world where people can regularly attack American citizens, American journalists, like this and our US political and media elites say nothing. No scandal, no outrage, no calls for action or accountability.
BREAKING: Heidi Levine, a photojournalist working in the occupied West Bank with The Washington Post, has sustained injuries along with several others after being attacked by settlers during a pogrom in the village of Abu Falah. 🔴 LIVE updates: aje.news/teweeb

More proof of the complete absurdity of the proscription of Palestine Action. What a stain on this government that people in this country are unable to buy and enjoy the work of one of this generation’s greatest writing talents. De-proscribe Palestine Action now.

That’s just a fact. European Zionists stole/colonize Palestine. The truth is not “antisemitic”. They ethnically cleansed the indigenous Palestinians off their land to make way for European colonizers with no ties to the Palestine. Facts matter

Wow - where have all the good vibes gone @andyburnham? Two dangerously authoritarian decisions in one day-both in the service of genocidal Israel: 1. Banning book by amazing novelist @sally_rooney and 2. Blackmailing @TheGreenParty to rescind a motion democratically voted on by its members or they will withdraw from local council coalitions. Trashing British democracy and free speech in order to defend apartheid Israel. #DefendFreeSpeech #BackZack #FightBack
NEW: Labour will break council coalitions with Greens unless local groups disown Zionism is racism position: "Local agreements will cease unless local groups disown the policy and tell national leadership to do the same."

Antisemitism is serious. That’s precisely why it should never be weaponised as a political football. Labour doing so should disgust people across every community. And all this while they continue to arm a genocide and lock up pensioners.

The campaign against Polanski has now reached Corbyn levels of hysteria. So normalised has this become for the political/media class that they are totally oblivious to the fact the bulk of the public are saying - hang on, but he's Jewish. According to Opinium 81% of Green voters who expressed a view said they supported the Zionism is racism motion and 60% of ALL voters under 34. It is absolutely vital the current Green Party leadership stands firm. Millions switched to the Greens precisely because they appeared to be prepared to stand firm on the great moral issue of our day. To buckle would be disastrous for British democracy.

We remain incredibly grateful to Sally Rooney for writing an afterword for ‘The Gaza Tribunal: Britain’s Complicity in Genocide.’ Well done Sally for standing with the Palestinian people. Your political courage is an inspiration to us all.

When I voted against proscribing Palestine Action, I warned there could be so many draconian consequences. We've had the ridiculous arrests of thousands for simply holding a sign. And now this against one of the best writers of her generation. This ban needs to be overturned.

If a great Irish writer’s books can no longer be published in the UK because she stands with Palestine, the question isn’t what law might Sally Rooney have broken, it’s what sort of country has Britain become. irishtimes.com/culture/books…

It’s reported today that Sally Rooney, who many believe is one of the best authors of her generation, has been advised that because she has expressed support for Palestine Action she could be arrested if she comes to the UK. Because she is donating some of the money from the sale of her books to Palestine Action her publishers have been advised that they too could be prosecuted if they sell her books in any form and so they have removed them from the bookshelves and other outlets. I do not want anyone in the UK to miss out on her wonderful writing and so I thought I would read the first paragraphs of her terrific book “Normal People.” I hope others will read further sections of the book so that people do not lose out on the joy of reading h her works.

Internationally-acclaimed bestselling author Sally Rooney can no longer sell her books in the UK because she stands against Israel’s genocide in Gaza, supports Palestine Action, and opposes locking up pensioners for protesting against proscription. This is Andy Burnham’s Britain. Shame on him for allowing this.
